

Raul O. Reyna Sr. Papi passed away peacefully and with his family at his bedside in a San Antonio hospital on Tuesday January 25, 2011. Despite having just turned 88 on December 26, 2010, he was in relatively good health and in good spirits up to his unexpected and sudden death.
Mr. Reyna Sr. will be tremendously missed by all who loved him. He was a devoted father who loved his family immensely and was always ready whenever anyone needed his guidance, support, advice or assistance.
His loving spirit radiated through the ever present sparkle in his hazel eyes together with his genuine smile. He loved all, and all loved him.
Mr. Reyna Sr. was always enthusiastic about work and dedicated his life to helping others in that process.
In 1947 he started his first business, Reyna Insurance Agency in Laredo, Texas, were he was born, raised and married Maria De La Luz Nava. In 1957, he and his wife/business partner, Maria Reyna, founded Texas Driving School, in El Paso Texas. Together they successfully ran both businesses.
Presently, the Reyna family owns and operates driving schools and insurance agencies throughout north, central and south Texas.
In his younger days Mr. Reyna worked as a ship welder in Corpus Christi, Texas, a trade he enjoyed his entire life.
He also served his country proudly as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Upon his return, he attended St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas.
He was a baptized and devout Roman Catholic whose faith in our Lord was strong and unwavering.
Mr. Raul O. Reyna Sr. is preceded in death by his loving first wife Maria De La Luz Nava Reyna, his parents, Pedro and Lilia Reyna, his sisters Adela Reyna Vela, and Lilia Reyna De Leon and younger brother P. Hugo Reyna.
He is survived by his wife and constant companion of over 20 years Elizabeth Lisa Reyna and his nine children: Raul O. Reyna Jr., Carlos E. Reyna, Ricardo O. Reyna, Laura E. Reyna, Norma L. Reyna, Elsa Reyna Pytel, Roberto J. Reyna, Sandra Reyna Serrano, Ana Patricia Reyna; 42 grandchildren and great-grandchildren andstep-son, Gerardo Teran.
The family will receive friends and family on Friday, January 28th from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30P.M. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
