Reginald "Reggie" Lee passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas, after a yearlong valiant battle with colorectal cancer. He was born in North Carolina while his parents were stationed at Pope Air Force Base. Reggie was a son, a brother, a mentor, and a friend who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those around him.
Known for his creative cocktails and magnetic personality, Reggie cultivated a successful career as a professional bartender and mixologist. He mixed more than just drinks—he stirred together the perfect ingredients for lasting friendships and memorable evenings. Reggie's dedication to his craft was paralleled only by his involvement in local associations, where his courage and selflessness shone brightly.
Reggie was also a member of the bible school, the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research in San Antonio, TX, and was a member until his passing. Reggie reflected on the words daily of Dr. Patricia Nelson, Dean of the IDMR Banning branch, "I don’t know what tomorrow holds but who holds tomorrow knows me.” Our Heavenly Father.
Reggie was awarded a full-ride scholarship to Hamilton University upon graduating from O’Connor High School due to his keen ability with math. He decided to attend the University of Houston, but not for long. After a year, Reggie followed his passion and went on the road. He performed with rap artist, Famous and even cut three CDs of his own. Later, he won the Roc the Mic Tour freestyle competition in the Albuquerque, NM, area, which was judged by rap artists Jay-Z, 50 Cents, and others.
Reggie's zest for life could hardly be contained. His love for music set the soundtrack for his life’s journey, while his passion for football and basketball marked his commitment to teamwork and perseverance. Bowling was another of Reggie's favorite pastimes, allowing him to showcase his precision and focus. Video gaming sessions with his brother Michael were more than mere leisure; they were battles of wits and celebrations of brotherhood.
A man of many words and joyous laughter, Reggie is survived by a loving and extensive family. He was the cherished son of Wyman Lee III, and Judy Robinson and the treasured stepson of Belen Lee. The grandson of Perry (who preceded him) and Geraldine Robinson; Wyman II (who preceded him) and Myrna Lee; siblings, Gina, Michael, Christopher, Daniel, Kim, and Jennifer. Each shared unique bonds with him, woven through years of support, triumphs, and challenges, together with his dedicatedpartner and companion, Trisha Baldwin. Reggie is preceded by his aunt, Diane Saunders and uncles, Leslie, Kevin, and Bruce Lee. Reggie leaves to mourn his loving uncles and aunts, Michael and Marie Blair, JoAnn Robinson, and Stephen Lee as well as his dear cousins, Christina McGill (Anthony), Ronald Saunders Jr. (Salina), Timothy Blair, and Maryann Robinson. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Reggie was courageous, facing life's challenges head-on and without fear. Even during his battle with cancer, he taught those around him what it means to confront adversity with grace and determination. He exemplified selflessness through his unwavering support for his friends and family, his ability to listen without judgment, and his willingness to put others before himself.
Reggie's life was a testament to the power of persistence, the joy of creative expression, and the importance of forging meaningful connections. While his physical presence will be deeply missed, his legacy of warmth, courage, and love will continue to inspire and influence those fortunate to have known him.
In true Reggie style, let's raise a virtual toast to a life filled with laughter, love, and memories that will be cherished forever. He lived his life as a symphony, a composition of many notes and moments, each important and beautiful in its own right. And while the music may have softened, its melody will resonate for eternity in the corridors of our hearts.
Reggie's journey on earth may have come to a close, but the stories, the love, and the lessons he imparted will remain with us. Rest in peace, dear Reggie—we love you and we miss you.
A small gathering will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, at Sideliners Grill, 15630 Henderson Pass, San Antonio, TX 78232, where Reggie formerly worked.
