

Dr. Remberto E. Garza, Jr., passed away Friday evening, April 20, 2012 surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, February 19, 1921. He lived in various places in the United States including Laredo, Texas and Detroit, Michigan with his parents, Remberto Garza, Sr. and Maria Monica Garza Elizondo and sister, Olivia. His father worked with the Border Patrol.
He graduated from the Universidad Autnoma de Nuevo Len, Facultad de Medicina in Monterrey, Nuevo Len, Mexico. He met his beloved wife Martha Maria Lopez Siller in Monterrey, Mexico and married April 17, 1950. They were blessed to have celebrated 62 years of marriage on April 17, 2012.
He served his "servicio social" in Allende, Nuevo Len, Mexico. He completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas and practiced with tremendous dedication, compassion and love for over fifty years. He always considered his greatest blessings to be his Catholic faith, his family, friends and patients.
His medical legacy continues through his four children who have pursued dental and medical careers following his stellar example. He valued education and his greatest gifts to his children and grandchildren were love, faith and the opportunity for education and travel.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Maria Garza Lopez Siller, son, Joseph Robert and wife, LuNell, son, George Louis and wife, Margaret, daughter, Martha Marie, and son, David Ernest and wife, Maytena; grandchildren: Katharine Teresa and husband, Charles, Lauren Christina and husband, Clay, Mark Joseph, Caroline Michelle, Christopher Michael, Amanda Christine, Danielle Elise, Gabriella Elise, Alexander David, Christine Marie, Angela Denise and great grandchildren: Makayla Marie and Thomas David. He is also survived by his niece, Adrienne Hachar. His beloved dog, Wolfie, and kitty, La Nina, feel his loss.
The family wishes to extend the most profound gratitude for the compassionate and outstanding care provided by Dr. Ricardo Garza, Dr. Michael Zuflacht, Dr. Mark Kipnes, Dr. Art Centeno, Dr. Bruce Brockway, Dr. Santiago Villarreal, Dr. Peter Williams and the tremendous nursing staff at the Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital.
