

Rene J. Baeten entered eternal rest on May 21, 2017. A native of San Antonio, TX, he was born December 24, 1941 to Rene Adolph and Gertrude Katherine Baeten, whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Frances J. Baeten, children: Michael Baeten, Cheryl James and husband Jeff, Jeannine Ruffner and husband Andy; grandchildren: Grayson, Carson, Madison, Kendall, Austin, Lauren, Michael, and Mathew; brother Louis Baeten, and nephew Bryan Baeten and wife Kaitlyn. Rene faithfully served his country in the United States Army and retired as at Lt. Colonel from the Army Reserves. He was a 1959 alumni of Central Catholic High School and continued his education at St. Mary’s University- MSIE, University Texas at Austin-BSEE and University of Utah-MBA. Some of Rene’s greatest credentials include: mathematics professor at Alamo College for 20 years, Knights of Columbus since 1980, 25 years in the Civil Service as an electrical engineer, US Army Reserves, and Real Estate Agent with Century 21. Rene’s most precious moments were spent traveling and fishing with his grandkids. Family will receive guests at Sunset Northwest funeral home on Sunday, May 28,2017 at 6:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary. Mass of Resurrection will be at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou, Monday, May 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with a one-hour visitation prior to Mass.
