I worked with Richard at SAHA. He was a very nice man who was always fair with his employees. I knew his stuff at SAHA. It was greatly missed after he left there. But then, this is the time his family got him back. It must have been wonderful for him to spend time with you. I know he would always display picture of his family and he was very proud of everyone.

Some 32 years ago, I had the privilege to work for Richard de los Santos when he was the Manager at Mirasol Homes. I have very fond memories of those early days at SAHA. Not only was he a great boss and mentor, he was also very compassionate to residents and employees. As an employee, I remember I rode the bus and the buses went on strike. Well, Mr. de los Santos would pick me up, take me to work and then take me back home after work - every single day of the strike. 
Another very tender gesture, I will always remember, is that every year while I worked for him and for a number of years afterward, he would call me on June 24th and wish me a happy "Dia de mi Santo" Patron Saint's Day 
To all his family, may you find comfort in knowing you were blessed with such a fine, caring, and generous man. His memory will always live in our hearts.

I played tennis with Richard at Shadow Cliff for years. Richard was always cheerful and quick with a smile. I always liked to have him as a partner because he was quick to encourage me when I made a mistake. If someone asked me to discribe Richard I'd just say "a really genuine and nice guy." I wish to express my deepest sympathys on the passing of Richard, my good friend, mentor, supervisor, and sargeant. Richard and I go back to the 70's when I first started working for SAHA. Richard was always available when I ran into problems as a Property Manager at SAHA, he would make a joke on the problem I mentioned, but in the joke the resolution to the problem was there. When I was in the Army Reserve with him in the 90th ARCOM, he would help me cope with the workload since we drilled in the evenings. Richard was also a very good friend, he would see me groping, would ask me what was wrong, and as a true friend, he would issue a suggestion to resolve the problem. I will miss Richard, but I believe he is in a better place, we might not be with him right now, but I am sure that we will meet him again. Again, my condolences. All of Richards family is in my prayers. God Bless you and bring you comfort.

Dear Family Members, I will remember Richard will as a fun, friendly, and dedicated usher with the Saturday 5 O'Clock Group, my group, too. We, also, worked out at Health Link and shared stories of the Housing Authority and State issues. I worked for the State and he was always encouraging me to retire and enjoy life as he was doing. Andrea, I have good memories of wonderful times we all shared-at Emily's house, at dances, my house and other functions. Abe thought Richard was funny and admired him for his loyalty to Gilbert. Dear Andrea and family: I had the good fortune of having Richard and Carlos Garcia as my only two immediate supervisors during my 20 year tenure with SAHA. I shared many wonderful memories, experiences and laughs with Richard, over our 35 year friendship. I share strongly, in your sorrow.

One of the greatest gifts that we are granted while on this earth, is the the gift, and honor, of meeting and knowing a person of character. A person who makes you feel welcomed when you walk into a room of strangers. A person who is wise enough to be silent or strong enough to be firm as the need of those around him arises. A person who's smile makes those around them feel that everything in the world is OK and that human compassion and understanding still exists. Richard De Los Santos was such a person. I know that heaven rejoices to have him, we are thankful to have known him, and praise God in knowing that one day we shall meet again and bask in the warmth of their presence. Mr.D was more than just an old boss to me he was my friend,all I can say is that mr.d was loved and respected here at the office. How can I even begin to tell each of you how sorry I am about Richard's death. he was such an important part of my life, and I feel he was the reason I was hired at SAHA in 1983. I first met him in 1972 when I went to work for Senior Community Services, and he was even there to share my joy at the birth of my children. There are too many memories to even try to begin listing, but most of all, I will always value his friendship to me as well as countless others. He touched many lives in his years at SAHA, as well as his other activities. He was always ready to "party on", and I loved and admired him. His sense of humor, his laugh, and even his ability to get mad at staff will always remain with me.
