Pinto grew up on the Westside of San Antonio. He attended Carvajal Elementary, Rhodes Middle School, and Fox Tech High School where he was an outstanding athlete. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He did one tour in Vietnam and was honorably discharged. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. After serving his country, he spent many years as a civilian employee at Kelly AFB. He was a very talented aircraft painter and handyman. However, his proudest memories came from being a soldier. He could often be heard telling stories about Vietnam and his time overseas.
Later in life, Pinto enjoyed being surrounded by his grandchildren. He was very proud of all of their athletic accomplishments and enjoyed watching them play sports. He was always quick to offer pointers on how to throw, catch, or hit a ball. He loved them with all his heart. He was a very kind, giving, and humble man. He lived a simple life. He was a true friend to those who knew him well and a gentle soul to everyone he met. He will be deeply missed.
