Very saddened to have learned of Richard's passing. Richard generously donated his time and talents to develop CLI's strategic plan in 2008, where I met him briefly. I was struck by his patience, generosity and great support for community building. My deepest condolences to his family, loved ones and close friends during this time.

Richard was one of a kind. His lifes work was enobling and he will be missed.

I suppose the words that come to me immediately are "so young!" Your Dad was just one of the best. I loved him like a brother and perhaps mostly have regretted that we were not geographically closer to share our lives and families. On the other hand, our years together at Central were some of the most memorable of my life.Rita and I share your loss.He was a humanitarian and gifted advocate forcommunity needs.

Richard and I are members of the Texas A&M class of 1962. He was a good friend and great man. He will be missed.

I am saddened to hear of Richards Passing,The community has lost a great asset but I am sure his legacy lives on with all the groups he has helped Including CAMP.I learned a lot from Richard during the time I served with him on the CAMP BOD,his influence and leadership was instrumental .

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Richard, who I affectionately refered to as the Nonprofit Board GURU, for a few years at the Nonprofit Resource Center of Texas. He was unselfish in sharing his expertise and guidance when asked, and his committment to assisting organizations and individuals achieve excellence in leadership, I feel, was a hallmark of his career. I learned from him. My deepest heartfelt sympathies are extended to his family.

Don Ricky (as I called him) was always the voice of balance and reason in an unbalanced, unreasonable institution we called the ACLU of Texas. He put organizational interests above personal ego. He was unique and without many peers for these reasons. He was an angel on Earth and now his spirit is truly free. You will be missed Don Ricky but your influence lives on.

Chris, my condolences to you and your family for the loss of your father. It seems like the world lost a very excellent man on Monday. May his memory live on in the work that you do to improve communities.

Chris, I am so sorry for your loss. Your father seemed like a great man and I'm glad to know that you are continuing his legacy of serving in and bettering the community around you.

I've known Richard for years through our work in the nonprofit community. When I managed the Nonprofit Resource Center of Texas, he managed the consulting services for the Center. I never knew Dick, but I did have the privilege of working with his son Chris for many years. Knowing Chris, he must have been a great guy. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who knew Dick.

Richard, we met in 1952 7th grade at Central Catholic Jr. High. You were an inspiration and a great friend through the years. I will miss you.

I never knew Richard but I know his son, Chris. We serve together on a nonprofit board in Cleveland. Chris told me about Richard's work and he sounds like an amazing guy. He certainly raised a great son who it certainly sounds like is carrying on his impressive legacy. My condolences to the Alvarados.
