Richard Roberts Griffith, age 77, beloved husband and father entered into rest on Friday, January 4, 2013 to be with the Lord. Born July 18, 1935 in Somerville, MA. He served in the USAF from 1954-1964, followed by Civil Service at Randolph AFB, MPP Building for 49 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Mona Griffith and youngest son, Jeffrey Lyn-James Griffith. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley; sons, Richard M. Griffith and wife, Rita, John D. Griffith and wife Teresa; and daughter Carol M. Sandoval and husband, Rene; 8 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 14, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Special thanks to Northeast Methodist Oncology unit and Odyssey Hospice for their help, understanding and assistance in our time of need.
