

Richard J. "Dick" Hayes ~ Our Lord, Jesus, has taken him home. Following a long and courageous battle with cancer, Dick went to be with our Lord on Thursday, November 9, 2006. He slipped peacefully into the arms of Christ surrounded by his family and loved ones gathered near him at his home in San Antonio, TX.
Dick was predeceased by his son, Mark F. Hayes; parents, Ronald and Catherine Hayes and brother, Ronald F. Hayes, Jr. He is survived by his beloved companion, Lavonne Rose of Adkins, TX; daughters: Debra Warren of Rochester, NY and Michele Weatherley and husband, Tom of Minnesota; and his son, Richard J. Hayes, Jr. of San Antonio, TX. Dick is also survived by his precious grandchildren: Richard and Erin Warren; Michelle Hayes; Matthew and Kayla Weatherley; Alexander and Aric Hayes; an uncle, Robert and Gwen Hayes of Florida; nieces and nephews: Colleen and Kirk Walker, Ronald J. Hayes, Lorie Hayes, Heather Hayes, Scott and Kevin Jamieson all of Rochester, NY; along with his precious pet, "Beaches".
Born in Rochester, NY on September 19, 1931, Dick graduated from Edison Tech High and joined the U.S. Air Force in the early 1950's. He served stateside as a Staff Sergeant at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX. He returned to Texas in the early 1960's and remained a resident of San Antonio for over 40 years. He was co-owner of Alamo Bail Bonds for 30 years and was a former President of the Bexar County Bail Bond Association. Dick was a proud member of the VFW and the American Legion.
Dick's second home was in Port Aransas, TX, where he loved boating, "Tour Guiding" and spending time with his many wonderful friends. To those many, many dear friends who kept Dick laughing and fighting, please know how much he truly loved you. The family would like to thank the CTRC for their wonderful care and Odyessy Hospice for their kind, gentle support all the way to the tender, last moments of his life.
He was a kind and generous man and will be missed very much.
"Please think of Dick the next time you are on the "Jetties" and know, he now rests peacefully with Christ."
