Born on April 30, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas, to Francisco and Armandina Narvaez, he was the youngest son and preceded in death by Minerva, Arthur, Armando, Servando, Norma, Frank, and Robert. His life was a testament to his dedication to his family, his passion for his interests, and his commitment to his faith and serving others.
Richard graduated from Brackenridge High School before proudly obtaining his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin. His academic achievements were just the beginning of a life marked by professional dedication and community involvement. After completing his education, he served his country as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army, a role he always remembered with pride.
Upon returning to civilian life, he embarked on a fulfilling career with AT&T, where he worked until his retirement. His colleagues remember him as a friend who was always ready to share his knowledge and experience. His commitment to excellence and his ability to inspire those around him left an indelible mark on those he encountered.
Richard's loving wife of 57 years, Rose Marie, was the cornerstone of his life. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including their children David Richard (Kelly), Laura (Mark), Trina, and Andrea. His role as a father was one he cherished deeply, and he instilled in his children the values of hard work, integrity, and kindness. His grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy, and he loved spending time with them, sharing stories and imparting wisdom.
Beyond his family and work life, Richard had a passion for the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and golfer, often seen on the lake or on the greens, enjoying the Texas sun. He loved coaching his children and in the power of sports to teach important life lessons. His love for the University of Texas football was well-known, and he could be counted on to cheer for the Longhorns at every opportunity.
Those who knew Richard will remember him for his quick wit and his ability to bring laughter to any room. His spirited nature was contagious, and he approached life with a sense of adventure and positivity that touched everyone he met. He was also a loving uncle and a proud godfather, roles that he embraced with his whole heart.

Visitation will be at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough, San Antonio, TX 78212, on February 17, 2025 from 5 pm - 7 pm, Rosary will begin at 7 pm. The Funeral mass will be at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 8134 Blanco Road, on February 18, 2025, at 10 am. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
