

Colonel Richard R. Noack, resident of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, and member of Concordia Lutheran Church for twenty-nine years, passed away on May 10, 2015. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Mary Elizabeth Shaw of Waco, Texas, and is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Ann, three children and six grandchildren: daughter, Kathy and husband Brad Isernhagen of Bethany, Oklahoma with two children, Carol and Stephen and daughter-in-law, Cheyanna; son, Michael Noack and wife Gloria of San Antonio with three children, Maria, Marissa, and Miranda; and daughter, Lori Bodin and husband Ron of Spring Branch and daughter Alex. He is also survived by two brothers, Bob Noack and his wife Beverly of San Antonio, and James Noack of Cresson, Texas.
Colonel Noack was born on April 15, 1937, in Wichita Falls, Texas, graduated from Waco High School in 1955 and upon graduation from Texas A&M in 1959 was commissioned a 2/Lt in the Field Artillery and served twenty-six years in the Army in numerous command and staff positions as paratrooper and Master Army Aviator. He was a graduate of the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, and earned a Master's degree in Public Administration from Shippensburg State College.
During the Cold War, Col. Noack commanded a Lance Missile Battalion in Germany under the command of Major General George Patton, Jr. In 1977, Col. Noack was selected to the Department of the Army staff as Aviation Officer for the entire management of the Army Reserve Aviation Program. He later was selected Outstanding Member of the Year and served three years on the National Executive Board of the Army Aviation Association of America. Col. Noack's decorations include the Legion of Merit with the Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star, fourteen Air Medals and three Army Commendation Medals. He wears the Master Army Aviator Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the General Staff Identification Badge.
After retiring from the Army in 1986, Richard turned to a second career in insurance sales. He was a qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table for five years and was selected by industry members to "Who's Who in the Insurance Industry" in San Antonio during that period.
