

Richard Edward “Ed” Rodriguez, 87 years old, born March 14, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri, passed on November 4th, 2025, in Boerne, Texas. Ed is preceded in death by his parents Jaoquin Maritiano Rodriguez and Sophia Juarez de Rodriguez. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Rodriguez, his sons Michael and Shawn Rodriguez, daughter-in-law Claudia Rodriguez, his grandchildren Brittany Wendi Camacho, Scarlett Trujillo, Michael Rodriguez II, Christian Rodriguez, and great grandchildren Alondra Camacho, Emilio Camacho, Violett Trujillo and Juliett Trujillo.
Following his graduation from Bishop Lillis High School in Kansas City, Ed attended Iowa State University on a football scholarship. He later attended the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
Ed enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in March 1959, and graduated as an Air Policeman at Lackland Air Force Base (AFB), San Antonio, TX. During his enlistment, he served in South Korea, South Vietnam, McGuire AFB and Niagara Falls Missile Site, NY. Upon completion of his enlistment, Ed worked for Mobil Oil and Vile-Goller Fine Arts in Kansas City. He later owned and operated Agape Press, Inc. in St Petersburg, Florida with his wife, Joyce. Ed was also the owner/head coach of the St. Petersburg Seahawks semi-professional football team and he became a licensed realtor.
Ed loved his family and sports, especially football. He was a four-sport athlete in High School, and his passion for baseball and football continued long after his playing days. He was a die-hard fan of the K.C. Chiefs. He especially loved being a grandpa and making his signature pancakes and jello for his grandchildren.
Ed’s Memorial Service will be at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 1701 Austin HWY, San Antonio, TX 78218, on November 17, 2025 at 11:00. His burial will be at 1:45pm, Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209
