

Richard was born on May 27, 1946, in Hartford, Connecticut! He graduated from Suffield High School in Suffield, Connecticut! He served in the United States Air Force for a while and received an Honorable discharge! He later attended and graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Arts degree on May 14, 1977! He was most proud of this achievement and very proud of his Alma Mater!
Richard became a teacher and taught at many schools, St Augustin Catholic High School in Laredo in 1981, Medina Valley High School in nearby Castroville from the late 1980's to about 1992! He taught a fourth-grade class at St Gregory's Catholic school in San Antonio a couple of years in the late 1990's! He taught Economics, World Geography, Government, World History, he did Social Studies tutoring and even taught Health one year! There were other schools in his career as well! He even moved back to Houston for a while!
Richard was an avid reader and would take the bus to Barnes and Nobel to browse and purchase books! He loved his daily newspaper, The Express News! He was a sports fan of the Houston Astros and Boston Red Socks! He never married or had children of his own, but his students were his" children"! He was a very caring, conscientious, special teacher and a kindhearted, loyal, human being! He will be sorely missed!
Richard was predeceased by his parents Walter and Mary Turner; brothers Walter Turner Jr; James Richard Turner and sister Barbara Hills. Richard leaves a brother John Turner of Brattleboro, Vermont and several nieces and nephews in Vermont, Florida, and North Carolina.
Richard has been cremated and interned on May 6th, 2022, in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
