Robert Adolfo Acosta

Robert A. Acosta left peacefully on May 23rd with his wife Lisa Acosta and sister Pauline Enriquez by his side. He was first diagnosed with cancer in 2005 and then battled cancer four other times with remission in between. This last battle taking him from us.

Robert is a 1960 graduate of Sidney Lanier High School. He moved to Georgia where he attended Mercer University and received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. He was a Pharmacist at Skillern’s and then Revco. Later worked as a Pharmacy Manager for H-E-B, where he retired after 27 years.

Robert lived a wonderful life with his wife Lisa of 29 years. Lisa cared for him and didn’t want it any other way. Everyone who knew them could see the love that they both shared for each other. They met each other at H-E-B. Robert loved teasing his wife and making her laugh. They were both proud parents of their fur babies Bobo & Sofie and most recently Ali & Mo.

Robert leaves behind his only child Elizabeth Ann Chapa. Ann followed her Dad’s footsteps into Pharmacy and is currently a Pharmacy Manager at Kroger in Tennessee. He adored his daughter and was very proud of her. Robert always protected his daughter and looked out for her. She would call him and they would talk about her pharmacy issues and together they would try to solve the problems. Till the very end he still protected his daughter and passed after she left. She spent his last week with her Daddy and he told her that he couldn’t have asked for a better daughter. The love those two shared was beautiful to see when you would see them together. They are both one of a kind.

Robert also has 2 grandchildren Jonathan Chapa & Lauren Chapa. Both are graduates and working on their careers. Their Grandpa would like to make fun of them and tell them how they were when they were little. Jonathan running around the house saying he was a big boy and Lauren crying for everything. Robert and his Grandson share the same passion for Corvettes and now has his grandfather’s Vet. His Granddaughter Lauren skipped Spring Break this year to come see her grandpa and care for him as he was battling cancer. She even did an April fools joke on him and His wife Lisa posted it on TikTok. We all laugh together and he said “you got me “ I know that Robert will cherish these memories of the love his granddaughter had for him.

His son-in-law Manuel Chapa always had a list of things to do from Robert each time he came into town. Robert didn’t trust anyone to do any of these jobs because he said “Lisa, Manuel is a perfectionist and he always gets the job done right where I don’t have to fix or redo it.”

He also had, what we would call them, two adopted Grandchildren. First adopted Grandchild, Jacob Vosberg. Robert would always remember when Jacob was around 4 or 5 years old and wanted to help him wash his car with his Mom’s expensive bath towel. Jacob and Robert would share talks outside each time they saw each other. Robert was very proud of him becoming a Doctor. Second Grandchild, Maddie Sessler. They both would decorate outside for Christmas and Halloween. Robert always said he had a good helper with him and it was Maddie.

Robert was a great big brother to his sister Pauline Enriquez. He called her everyday to check on her and they talked about their favorite shows NCIS & Criminal Minds. His sister Pauline always remembered when she was in High School and her brother bought her a formal dress, long gloves and shoes so that she could go to prom in style. His baby brother Paul Acosta. Someone asked him how old is your baby brother? He said 70 but to Robert, Paul was always his baby brother. Robert made sure that his baby brother had a baseball bat and gloves so that he could play ball when he was little. He was always looking after them. Weeks before he passed he bought his baby brother a winter knit cap to keep him warm. Towards the end Robert would ask for his brother to come pray over him and now his baby brother was looking after his big brother Robert.

After his father Miguel C. Acosta Jr. passed away he would come see his mother Concepcion Perez everyday. They would have breakfast and discuss what’s happening in their life. He would bring his mother her prescriptions and made sure she had what she needed. As a kid he would come home from school during lunch and his mother would have either a steak or sandwich waiting for him because he didn’t like the school lunch. Robert always remembered his father baking pies, jelly rolls, cakes and bisques.

Robert leaves behind many friends and family that will deeply miss him. He was a unique, loving and handsome man who everyone loved once you met him.

Robert go be with your parents and Bobo & Sofie. Your sister asked your Mom to have homemade fried chicken and a slice of lemon meringue pie waiting for you. I will love you forever Robert.

His wife Lisa Acosta would also like to give a heartfelt special thanks to Dr. Drengler, his oncologist, who gave Robert exceptional care. As well as Nurse PA Wendy and Andy. Also, Three Oaks Hospice Nurse Celia and Chaplain Charlie for their comforting words and help through his final hours.

Roberts hands will be drape with a handmade rosary made by his nephew Rudy Enriquez and a necklace specially blessed for him also from his nephew.

Robert will be remembered at Porter Loring North funeral home on June 14th. In lieu of a Rosary a Celebration of Life will be from 5-8pm. A Rosary will be given out so that you can pray for Robert in a private setting at your convenience. A memorial mass will be held at 11am, on June 15th, at St Francis of Assisi, 4201 DeZavala followed by his burial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209, at 1pm, where he will receive full honors to be laid to rest.
