Bobby was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Roy Dell and Annie Laurie (nee Liles) Carter on August 5th, 1937. After graduating from Pearland High School, Pearland, Texas, he joined the United States Air Force. Ultimately, he became a member of The Strategic Air Command (SAC) stationed In England. Back home, Bobby attended the University of Houston. After that, Bobby traveled the World for over 40 years within the oil and gas industry throughout his career.
Fondest memories were shared with Sallie on their idyllic ranch near Fredericksburg, Tx. Bobby enjoyed working on the property, tending the cattle and pet miniature donkeys, Rod Stewart and Maggie Mae, sharing the sunsets with Sallie, and the fellowship of his neighbors and friends in the Fredericksburg area. Bobby and Sallie traveled extensively together, and delighted in exploring art, architecture, and landscapes of Santa Fe, NM, as well as St. Petersburg, Russia, and numerous cities across Europe.
Bobby is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Sallie (nee Stanley), daughter Amanda Carter McVean (Jon Jeffrey McVean), son Matthew Dell Carter, and grandson Carter Houston McVean. He was fortunate and found much joy in being called Grandpa by Sallie’s grandsons, Chase and Blake Stachelek (Nakita) and Blake’s sons Christopher, Ryan, Jaxon, Morgan, Killian, Ronin and daughter Zeppelyn. Bobby is also survived by his stepson Keith Kerber, much loved cousins, nieces, and nephews -and particularly his dear friend and nephew “Little Harry,” Harry Stanley.
Bobby was preceded in death by his mother and father, maternal and paternal grandparents, brothers-in-law Harry and George Stanley, grandson Brookshire Pipes McVean, and Sallie’s daughter Julie Kerber.
