

Mr. Durr served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942-1945 and was involved in several campaigns in North Africa, Sicily and Italy.
He was a coach in Sunday School Baseball Leagues and Little League. He was a very active member of Highland Terrace United Methodist Church and the Highland Park Lions Club. He especially enjoyed teaching the Senior High Sunday Class at Highland Terrace for over 20 years.
Along with his father-in-law, G.S. McCreless, Mr. Durr assisted in securing the property for the Methodist Hospital. He also was involved in the development of the southeast side of San Antonio including the construction of hundreds of homes, McCreless Shopping Village, McCreless Medical Center and McCreless Mall which he managed for 25 years. Mr. Durr served on the San Antonio Transportation Commission, San Antonio Airport Commission and for many years he served on the Salvation Army Board.
His Lord and Church were his first love, followed by his love for his family and friends.
He was a member of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church and was a wonderful Christian man who loved and was loved by many. He was preceded in death by both parents and brothers, Charles Durr and Clifford Durr.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years Graceann McCreless Durr; and sons, Robert Gordon Durr and Kenneth Wesley Durr and his wife, Robin Shaw Durr; and Cathy Lott Durr all of Austin; three grandchildren, Robert Matthew Durr, John Gordon Durr and Sarah Rebecca Durr. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Pritchett and her husband, Holis of Flagstaff, Arizona; a brother and his wife, Bert and Glenda Durr of Saint George, Utah, and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dr. Ford and Merry Christine Nielsen along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and those close friends who seem like our children. Two very dear friends to Mr. Durr were Mary Rodriquez and Joann Ramirez.
