

Robert “Bob” Carl Haag, age 79, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on March 8, 1943, in North Wales, Pennsylvania, the only son to parents, Robert Haag and Minchen Opperman.Bob was an MVP high school quarterback with a short college football career and longer modeling career including a highlight for Campbell’s in the Saturday Evening Post.Bob met Susan E. George in Crested Butte, Colorado on a ski trip. Although she was Wisconsin born and raised, they moved to San Antonio shortly after they married on April 15, 1964. During their marriage, they had three daughters: Cynthia Monique Haag Cruz, Tanya Lynn Haag and Melinda Sue “Cricket” Sjodin. Their daughters brought joy to Bob’s life and extended his family by giving him ten grandchildren and one great-grandson. Bob and Susan parted ways in 1977.Later, Bob married Shirley Jean Zunker. She already had two children, Dusty and Scott, who gave them three more granddaughters. Shirley passed away in 2016.Bob loved photography and traveling the world with Shirley, seeing his girls together, golfing with his “Golf Gaggle”, partying with his Frat brothers from Trinity University, San Antonio, (his Alma Mater); fishing at the coast, and in his last years singing karaoke with friends at the EO. He was proud to be a 16th generation direct descendent of Samuel Morris, and grateful for his Pennsylvania heritage.He believed in and worked hard for years trying to influence congress hoping to leave a better world for his grandchildren. He got to see both of his oldest grandchildren get married.Much of his early years, Bob was a Battery Plant Manager, then business consultant before retiring and working part time as a transporter.He is preceded in death by his parents, Minchen and Robert Haag. Bob is survived by his daughters; stepchildren; grandchildren; great-grandson; extended family and dear friends.
