Knowing Bob for almost thirty years was probably one of the biggest influences in my life. Serving on one of his Combat Dive Team's, ODA 775. The one thing I can tell you about the man as a Leader was that he always had your SIX with one in the Chamber. Going to South America with a stop off in Panama was the best. Group is now down one more Warrior, save a place on that stick for me Brother and we will once again jump and tell of our stories.

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel about the loss of CSM(R) Robert E. Hand.  He gave his life for freedom and his legacy will never be forgotten.  Please know that we are thinking of you and your family during this time of sorrow.

CSM Hand was the epitome of what an SF NCO is all about. I learned more from my 3 years working with him than at any other time in my 20 year career in the Army.I am truly saddened by this news and pray for penny, family, and friends. Till we meet again in Valhalla.

I was one of CSM Hand's Soldiers in 3/7 SFG(A).  He was a great leader and trusted his men to do the right thing.  At a time when micromanaging was the norm, he bucked the trend.  Always respected him for that and I wish there were more like him.  He was well respected by those who served with him and will always be remembered in the highest regards.  DOL

SGM, my condolences to your family!  I served in B/1/7th about the same time as you.  I can think of few honors greater than having the words Command Sergeant Major attached to your name.  My wife rests in Ft Sam Nat and I will join you and all our patriot brothers and sisters.  I promise to keep any injury to your grass to a minimum!
