Robert Dean Klein was born December 31, 1941, in Hamburgh, Iowa. He lived in the Tarkio, Missouri area and attended school there until the fifth grade, when his family moved to Goodland, Kansas. He attended school there through high school, and he married Maxine Stephens on November 27, 1958. He then attended Ft. Hays State College for two and a half years and ran track for Alex Francis.
Robert, his wife Maxine and son Michael moved to McPherson, Kansas where he owned a gas station and garage. He sold gas, tires and customized exhaust systems for cars.
In 1982 he moved to San Antonio, Texas. There he worked with Dr. Boyd Bien conducting embryo transfers on cattle throughout Texas, the mid-west and even Brazil. He loved his work searching for viable embryos in petri dishes and preparing them for transfer. He also loved the fellowship he had with the many people he met in his travels.
He accepted Christ as his savior. He loved and served the Lord as he attended Wayside Chapel and lived his life with integrity.
Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Maxine, his two sons and their wives: Michael and Virginia Klein of McPherson, Kansas, and Rodney and Christine Klein of San Antonio; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; his brother and his wife, Bill and Dawn Klein of Surprise, Arizona, and all the people he gathered under his wings, loved and nurtured and regarded as friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or the Alzheimer’s Association.
