Dear Joyce and family.  How saddened I was today to learn of Bob’s passing in November.  So many fun times we had at TDLR. Missed you greatly after I retired now so long ago and when you moved to San Antonio.  Our birthday greeting continues until a few years ago when we somehow lost touch.  I can;t tell you how often I though of you guys, especially at Christmas time when I would see a Santa and think of Bob’s passion.  My love to you all.  Jim Brush

Bob could light up a room, Christmas or not :) I am so blessed to have met him (and Joyce) through my grandparents, Don and Carolyn Tolly. Don and Carolyn have loved Joyce and Bob for many years, and I know that Papa (Don) was waiting there to welcome Bob with open arms. Losing them both in so short a time is double-hard. Joyce, you have all the love and support you could need from the Tolly Family. Please don't hesitate to reach out. We all send our condolences to the entire Roda Family. November 2013, we came to view our home in San Antonio, as we about to leave Ms. Joyce came to introduce herself and said, “ hold on I want you guys to meet my husband.” Out came Mr Bob and she saw my facial expression, “ Yes sweetie he looks like Santa,” was her reply. We knew then that our choice of a home was a good one, knowing that they were going to our neighbors! He loved us as his family, he was like my father away from home, a grandpa to Jayden. Manny felt secured while away in Middle East knowing that I had him and Ms. Joyce as our support system. Mr Bob, I’m so glad that Jayden and I got to see you before we left for Qatar. I will always love you, thank you for the many wonderful memories you created with us. Kaashifa, Manny and Jayden.

Robert so generously gave his time to offer magical memories to our children that they will cherish the rest of their lives.  The joy he and Joyce so lovingly brought into our home will never be forgotten. Thank you so much for the friendship to our family; you will be missed.  - The Hernandez family

Robert was a very accepting man and was always looking to make sure you were feeling included and a part of whatever it is that was happening and he was involved.  I married into the family in 2002 and Robert and Joyce were so welcoming and warm. Along with their dog Buttons, they were widely traveled within the borders of the United States.  He was the ultimate Santa and from what I understand LOTS of children truly believed he was "the real deal".  He looked, acted and portrayed such a generous and welcoming spirit.  He will be missed but oh what a Blessing it has been to get to know both Bob and Joyce over the years.  May God Bless Joyce with Peace and Understanding and the Grace to accept Life as it is.

It was an honor to know Bob & call him my friend.  Knew him well when he worked for TDLR.  Always a pleasure to be in his company.  He will be missed.  Ed Beasley
