Bob was loved and respected by all who knew him.
He was born in New Market, Tennessee on August 16, 1913, the son of Rev. Philip Lester Shuler and Alma Mildred Shuler. He moved to Los Angeles as a young man where he met his future wife, Linda. They were married by his father's brother, the renowned Rev. Bob Shuler Fighting Bob of Los Angeles. Four children later they moved to Dallas.
Bob was dependable and totally trustworthy which earned him positions in various fields requiring mental, mathematical and people skills.
He became plant supervisor and Assistant Executive Director of the main Goodwill Industries plant in Dallas with 260 people under him before he retired.
Bob enjoyed deep-sea fishing, especially for albacore in California.
He was always active in the Methodist Church; his father, brothers, grandfathers, uncles and cousins were Methodist ministers.
After retirement, Bob moved to Brownwood, TX. He excelled at bowling and received the Sportsmanship Award from the Brownwood Bluebonnet Pro Bowling League in 1991, and the American Bowling Congress Award for 50 years in the Consecutive Sanctioned Bowling League, No. 355.
In 1996, Bob and Linda moved to Independence Hill Retirement Community in San Antonio, Texas and joined Coker United Methodist Church, where he became a Fellow of the Society of John Wesley "In appreciation of continuous support and devotion to prayer, youth, and mission effort."
Most of all, Bob loved his family who loved him dearly. He will be sorely missed by us and by all who knew him.
