Robert Conley Smith age 82, passed away August 23, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on September 17, 1934 to Wilbur and Mary Eunice Smith. Robert retired from the U.S. Air Force, MSGT, after over 26 years of dedicated service to his country. Robert also served and protected for 20 years with the San Antonio Police Department. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret G. Smith; daughters, Shelley Marie Pieper and her husband Chris, Tracey Lynn Stewart and her husband Charles; grandchildren, Amanda Pieper, Terra Pieper, Morgan Pieper, Joshua Conley Smith and Phillip Guidry; great-granddaughter, Chloe Smith. Graveside service will be conducted at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 10:15 A.M. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Robert's name to The San Antonio Humane Society.
