Robert Tyger passed away on December 30, 2023. He was 90 years old, 3 months short of his 91st birthday. Robert was born in Pennsylvania and raised in Danbury, CT and Port Jervis, NY by Murray Loreign Tyger and Mary Elizabeth Rice Tyger (Betty).
After joining the US Navy for his draft service, he attended several universities, including USC and the University of Miami, FL., where he graduated. He had several occupations, but settled on being a wholesale carpet territorial manager with several large territories over the years in Florida, Louisiana, and Texas. His territory stretched north to Austin, down to the valley, and as far west as El Paso. He made San Antonio, Texas his home for the last decades of his life.
Bob was an avid reader and committed couch potato. He was a football fan from the first days of the NFL, with his favorite team being the Dallas Cowboys. He was lucky enough to marry a talented cook, and only had to make a few meals in his married life, mostly sandwiches, and occasionally scrambled eggs.
Robert was proceeded in death by his parents, Murray and Betty Tyger, and his son, Rex Michael Tyger. He is survived by his wife, Sally Ann Buckridge Tyger, and his daughter, Robin Michelle Tyger, both of San Antonio.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to Oasis/San Antonio or Congregation Rodfei Sholom, also of San Antonio.
Bob never expressed an opinion on any religion during his adult life, so whatever his version of the afterlife was, we hope he achieved it.
