He was born December 18, 1928 in Vinton, LA to J.B. Valentine and Velma Delhomme. Robert married Bonnie Hamby on August 12, 1948 in Buras, LA.
He retired from Gulf Oil Corporation and was a member of St. James Episcopal Church.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Doris Ball; brother, James Valentine. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children, Linda Harvey of San Antonio, Robert Valentine, Jr. and wife, Jamie of Houston, James Valentine and wife, Fah of Austin; grandchildren, Byron Bergeron, John Valentine, Katie Whittiker, Bryan Valentine, Adam Valentine, Fang Valentine; great-grandchildren, Dru Bergeron and Max Bergeron.
