

After serving in the Navy during World War II, he joined the New York National Guard and was called into active duty where he served in the Army with the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea. After graduating from Michigan State University, he became an Investigations Special Agent for Customs in Detroit and New York. He was later sent to Chicago as Senior Agent for Strike Force, and then transferred to Yuma, AZ as Special Agent in charge of Customs. He maintained his service with the Army Reserves, and retired in 1977 as a Lt. Colonel, and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.
Bob moved to San Antonio in 1980. He belonged to the Harp and Shamrock Irish Cultural Society, American Legion Post #2, Disabled American Vets Chapter 5, and the World War II Honor Vets. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gloria Ruelle Walsh; a son, Joseph Walsh and Mary Meehan; and a granddaughter, Jessica Walsh.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 25, at Porter Loring Mortuary North. Private services for the family will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
