

Roberto Arroyo – Merlo, 66, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on June 20, 1958, to parents, Anibal Arroyo Y Sanchez and Nereida Merlo Arlequin. Roberto loved spending time with his family and had a passion for Classic Cars. He was an MP during Desert Storm that earned him numerous medals and decorations. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, Roberto earned the Bronze Star Medal with “V” device, one of the most prestigious Medals of Honor. He had a break in his Army service and worked as a Correctional Officer at the Clements Unit in Brazoria Texas for 5 years. Roberto spent the majority of his 30 year career as an Army soldier.
He was preceded in death by his father, Anibal Arroyo Y Sanchez. Roberto is survived by his wife of 30 years, Aurora Salazar – Arroyo; children, Michelle Garcia, Donna LePeltier – Garcia, Miguel Garcia (Liz), Taisha Arroyo and Lauren Arroyo; grandchildren, Kristopher I. Pulido (Kiley), Benjamin Moyeda, Lennox LePeltier, Sebastian Garcia and Ariana Garcia; siblings, Luis Alberto Rodriguez, Reinaldo Rodriguez – Merlo, Sandra Yvette Corporan and Doris Milagro Corporan – Merlo; mother, Nereida Merlo Arlequin as well as countless friends, Army Brothers and Sisters and other family members.
A visitation for Roberto will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Porter Loring Mortuary - West, 1710 West Loop 1604 North, San Antonio, TX 78251. The rosary will begin at 7:00 PM. A Mass will occur Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 4222 SW Loop 410, San Antonio, TX 78227. A committal service will occur Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
