Rodney Gale Whitehead, age 91, of San Antonio, died Sunday, December 29, 2013.Rodney was born to James and Dora Whitehead on December 19, 1922.
Rodney served in the U.S. Army for 20 years and then for the U.S. Post Office for 20 years prior to retirement. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He loved country and western dancing and he loved the ladies. With the help of AA & Club Twelve, Rodney has remained sober for the past 30 years.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Ersa Lee Berman and her husband, Gerson "Gib" Berman.
He is survived by his son, Phil Applegate (Alice); granddaughter, Morgan Rankin (Chris); grandson, Tyler Applegate; great grandson, Carter Rankin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be missed.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 6, 2014 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
