Born in Chicago in 1931, Roger grew up a devout Catholic and Cubs fan. He attended Beloit College and played football (#22) as a star running back and cornerback. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserves during the Korean War.
In the late 1950s, Roger moved to West Texas, where he served as a U.S. Border Patrol Agent. Those were some of his favorite times, generating stories he loved to tell.
Roger enjoyed a prosperous career in Federal Law Enforcement, including time in the U.S. Treasury Department and as a U.S. Sky Marshal. He received a letter from President Reagan for his distinguished career.
Roger dedicated his life to being a loving father and family man. He spoiled many Golden Retrievers, coached baseball, and was a steadfast churchgoer.
Roger is survived by his daughter Erika, son Philip, daughter-in-law Jane, granddaughter Pippa.
A visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home (1701 Austin Hwy) on Tuesday, 5/18 between 6pm - 8pm. Masks required.
