Born in 1953, Rolando was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He shared 40 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Hermelinda, a bond built on laughter, strength, and unwavering love.
Rolando proudly served his country in the United States Army for 20 years and was a Vietnam Veteran. His years of service reflected his deep sense of duty, honor, and patriotism—qualities that carried into every part of his life. He often spoke of his time in the military with pride, and he embodied the spirit of sacrifice and commitment both in uniform and at home.
Rolando was a man of simple joys and deep passions. He was a proud fan of the New York Yankees and could often be found with a puzzle in front of him, Tejano music playing in the background, and a smile on his face. His love for music was only matched by his love for family—he was the heart of every family gathering, quick with a story, a helping hand, and his signature “Dad jokes” that always brought laughter. Known affectionately as the family’s "Uber driver," Rolando never hesitated to take his loved ones wherever they needed—or wanted—to go. It was just one of the many ways he showed his love—quietly, consistently, and generously.
Rolando leaves behind a legacy of service, kindness, loyalty, and devotion to his family and community. His presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
He is preceded in death by his daughters, Christine Acevedo, Cynthia Ritz; parents, Maria Acevedo (Cookie), Atanacio Acevedo, Estella Flores; brothers, Mario Acevedo and Sergio Acevedo.
