

Ronald Lorenzo Powell entered the world March 29, 1965, the son of John (preceded him in death) and Nellie Powell in Starkville, MS. The family moved to Cleveland, OH in 1969. Ron was given to the Lord by baptism at New Bethel Church at an early age. He graduated from Benedictine High School in 1983. He later joined the United States Air Force in 1984 as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
Ron was everybody’s favorite. There was no shortage of smiles, kind words and big hugs. Ron was an avid sport fans and gunman. He played basketball, football and softball. Ron was always rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs and The Ohio State University.
Ron proudly served his country for twenty-five years before retiring in 2009. During his career, he deployed to Iraq, Turkey, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Korea. As a “Dirt Boy” Ron served at Ft Sam Houston TX, Kelly AFB TX, Andersen AFB Guam, Hickam AFB HI, and Peterson AFB CO. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the USAF DirtBoyz.
Ron leaves to cherish his memory wife, Stephanie (Coleman) Powell, son Samuel Reece (Lauren) and his mother, Nellie Powell. The daughters of his heart Brittany Hogan and Brianna Huger. Grandfather to Breinton and Rylan Green and Jai and Jason Williams. Siblings: Darryl Powell, Ayanna Powell, Ramona Powell and Angelia (Ryan) Walker. Ron is also survived by his Grandmother Missouri Montgomery, Great-Aunt Theodia Hearn, six Aunts, five Uncles and four Sisters In Law. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
