February 6, 1927 – January 25, 2019.
Rosalie Gottardy Cerna was born in San Antonio to Louise Wauters and Leonard Gottardy, the second of eight children. While working at the Army Map Service she met her husband, Daniel Anthony Cerna, and the two were married on September 5, 1947. They were true sweethearts for 71 years! Rosalie and Dan raised 8 children with incredible love and strong values. Rosalie volunteered at the Institute of Texas Cultures, participating in quilting bees for decades. She created beautiful pieced quilts for her children and grandchildren. Always ready for an adventure, Rosalie loved traveling, pink flamingoes, and her red Camaro. She believed strongly in women’s rights and was a lifelong Democrat. Rosalie is predeceased by her son, Daniel Cerna, Jr. and granddaughter, Hanna Cerna, siblings Lucille Calle and Gerald Gottardy. She is survived by her husband Dan and children Sharon Baughman (Peter), Karen Halamuda (David), Martha Cerna, Tina Sanders (Ron), Barbara Cerna (Rick DiBaggio), Michael Cerna (Traci), and Stephen Cerna (Shannon). Also, 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Margie Grothues, John Gottardy, Prudence Froebel, Richard Gottardy and Geraldine Kellner.
Visitation will be at St. Anthony Claret Catholic Church, 6150 Roft Road, 78253 on Monday, Feb. 4, 2019 beginning at 9:00 AM with a Rosary to follow at 10:00 AM and Funeral Mass at 10:30AM. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery
