I was born on June 14, 1940, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Martin Garcia Hinojosa III and Maria Teresa Lomeli. Preceding me in death were my parents, brother, Ralph Porter and son, Mario Drattlo and my second husband, Gary E. Moore. I am survived by my husband, friend and love of my life for 53 years, Johnny, my sister, Leticia Smith; her partner, Saint Williams; granddaughter, Athena Drattlo and first husband, Chester Drattlo; our daughters, Denise Seratte, Maria Isabelle Cain and son-in-law Justin Cain and granddaughters Amber and Brianna and her husband Lance.
I attended Ursuline Academy, in San Antonio but attained my high school diploma in Gulfport, Ms. Later, I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from Park College, MO. I have lived in Layton, Utah; Biloxi, MS; Vandenberg AFB, CA; Abilene and San Angelo, TX; Okinawa, JA; and Oklahoma City, OK. When Johnny and I chose to retire, we returned to my birthplace in 2007 and lived at the Majestic Towers until my death.
As a military spouse, my work experience ranged from Clerk Stenographer at Randolph AFB, San Antonio, TX to Secretary for the General Manager of AAFES at Keesler AFB, MS; Chief of Commercial Services for the 18th Comptroller Squadron at Kadena Air Base, Japan, to Budget Accountant III, at the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. I retired on August 2, 1997, from Accounting & Finance at Tinker AFB after 21 years and 10 months of civil service. Then, retired from the Budget Office, Oklahoma Department of Corrections after 10 years.
After moving to San Antonio, I derived great pleasure in volunteering for three years as Membership Chair for the Downtown Residents Association of San Antonio. I loved jigsaw puzzles and embroidery. My iPad Air 2 was an extension of my right arm. I also enjoyed coordinating birthday luncheons for my Ursuline Academy Class of 1958, ensuring we kept in touch. It meant the world to me to have as my best friends; Aurora Jean Pacheco, (Sada) and Rosemary Harper (Guardia). My favorite times at home were watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Spurs with my husband Johnny. A shot of tequila was known to appear during these times. Later, I became addicted to Words with Friends where I met a special friend, Carolyn Battaini, who cared for my emotional well-being during my journey with cancer.
Deliriously happy to be retired, Johnny and I traveled to Sorrento, Italy; Oahu, Hawaii; Fiji, South Pacific; Vancouver, Canada; Sydney, Australia; New York City and Corpus Christi, Texas.
Volleyball was my favorite sport. During my junior school year, I was Captain of the team that beat the Sacred Heart School seniors.
I call myself loyal and am always willing to help. My favorite saying in times of strife was “And this too shall pass “but hopefully not me LOL.”
