

Roy Lee Salone, SSG US Army Retired, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024 at the age of 71. Born on August 5, 1952, in Sinton, TX, Roy's journey through life was marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a passion for the simple joys of life.
Roy's legacy is cherished by his loving wife of 48 years, Sherry, with whom he built a life filled with laughter and enduring love in San Antonio. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Carmen Alexander (married to Alton Jr.) and Christopher Salone (married to Maritza), both of whom inherited their father's kind heart and strong spirit. Roy's joy was multiplied by his adoring grandchildren, Christianna Marie, Buddah (Alton III), Stink (Antonie), Nugget (Camora), Sarea, Tatyana, Sydney, and Armani, who will forever remember their grandfather's warmth and wisdom.
Roy is preceded in death by his daughter, Chrishelle; parents, Lee Edward and Ruby Lee; sisters, Mary Lee Taylor, Joyce L. Salone, Eddie Mae Salone; and brothers, Wilford Salone, Lee Edward Salone, James Salone, and John Salone.
After graduating from Sinton High School, Roy proudly served his country by joining the US Army. His patriotism and commitment to excellence continued throughout his civilian career as an administrative assistant for the ID card section at Fort Sam Houston, followed by a meaningful tenure with the Wounded Warriors Division at Brooke Army Medical Center. In 2013, after 37 years of combined military and civil service, Roy retired, leaving behind a legacy of diligence and compassion.
Roy's interests were a reflection of his vibrant and engaging personality. He was an avid sports fan, always ready to cheer on his favorite teams with the same enthusiasm he brought to every aspect of his life. Bowling was another of Roy's passions, where he enjoyed the camaraderie and friendly competition. Traveling opened up new horizons for Roy, but nothing compared to the wind in his face while riding his beloved Harley Davidson trike, a symbol of his adventurous spirit.
Above all, Roy cherished the time spent with his family and friends. His presence was a source of comfort and joy, and his guidance was sought after by all who knew him. Roy's love for his family was his guiding light, and his actions always spoke louder than words, demonstrating the depth of his commitment and care.
Roy Lee Salone lived a life that exemplified the virtues of love, courage, and wisdom. He navigated life's challenges with grace and emerged as a beacon of strength for those fortunate enough to have known him. His memory will be held in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his generous soul.
A visitation for Roy will be held Sunday, August 11, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232. A funeral service will occur Monday, August 12, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 645 Knights Cross Dr, San Antonio, TX 78258. A graveside service will occur Monday, August 12, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
