

Ruben “Sonny” Lopez Davila Jr., born on June 13, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas went to be with the Lord at the age of 79 on July 20, 2014. He is preceded in death by his wife Suzan Davila; parents, Ruben L. Davila Sr. and Consuelo Jones, and sister Martha Espinoza. He is survived by his sister Virginia Davila, son David Davila and his wife Crystal Davila and their children; Diamond, and Blake; son, Frank Davila, and his children; Joseph and Jacob Davila; son Rudy Davila and his wife Jewa, and their children; Nicole, Joshua, Tristan, Tyler, and Tiana; son, Baldemar Rodriguez and children; Anthony, Diana, Michelle, Susana, Cynthia, and Christina. He is also survived by 25 great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Ruben Davila was a combat Veteran with the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country during the Korean War. Mr. Davila was a recipient of the Purple Heart for service to his country.Sonny was a life member of the VFW Post #76. He enjoyed music, movies, and boxing. Sonny was active in the Community Organized for Public Service (COPS) where he block walked to gather support for sidewalks and drainage programs for the Westside of San Antonio. Sonny was lovingly known by his grandchildren as “Cookie Man”. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 for a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at Holy Family Catholic Church, 152 Florencia. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
