Ruby was born on December 24, 1913, in Witcherville, Arkansas to Asa McDonald and Mary Virginia Hearn McDonald. She and her twin sister, Reba were the youngest children in a crew of 10 brothers and sisters.
In the 1930's, following the death of their mother and father, Ruby and her sister, Reba moved to San Antonio, Texas, where Ruby met and married Walter Ressel in 1936. Ruby and Walter had two sons, Darwin and Warren.
In 1968, Walter died following a brief illness.
Ruby was one of the first employees of the Frito Company, frying and bagging the first-ever Fritos.
For the majority of her work career, Ruby worked for Frost Bank of San Antonio, retiring from her position in the Transit Department in 1979. It was at Frost Bank that Ruby met James Blanton. They were married in February of 1981.
As her health began to fail and the ravages of Alzheimer's took its toll on her memory and ability to function at home, Jimmy and Ruby moved to Morningside Manor, where Jimmy visited and cared for her on a daily basis.
Her first husband, Walter, her parents and all nine of her brothers and sisters preceded Ruby in death. Those who mourn include her husband, James Blanton; her eldest son, Darwin Ressel and his wife, Lynda Ressel of Bulverde; and younger son, Warren Ressel and his wife, Betty of Austin. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren include: Deanne Breedlove, her husband Shawn and children, Ally, Ben and Jake; Robyn Migot and children, Thomas Shawn and Nicki; Sarah Soliz, her husband Phil and children, Emily Halliburton and Elliott Soliz; Rachel Hill, her husband, Shane and child, Shane II; and Michael Ressel. Ruby also leaves many nieces and nephews throughout Texas and Arkansas.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Morningside Manor for their kindnesses to Ruby during her stay.
The Ruby that we all knew and loved will be missed and remembered for all of the beauty and love she brought to our lives.
