Ruby Inez Hayes

Ruby Inez Hayes, born January 21, 1911 in Haywood County, North Carolina, entered eternal rest on March 10, 2002 at Vitas Hospice, Methodist Specialty and Transplant Center, in San Antonio, Texas.'Nez was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil C. Hayes Nov 19, 1976. Formerly of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, where she resided for nearly 65 years of her life; Mrs. Hayes moved to San Antonio in September 1997 and was a resident of Independence Hill Retirement Community in San Antonio, Texas.

Inez was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked all her life primarily in the retail industry until computers prompted her retirement. She was a department manager and buyer for Belk Department Store in North Wilkesboro from 1942-1976. She then worked part-time in Brands Dept Store until she was 78 years old. 'Nez was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Wilkesboro, the Moose Lodge Auxiliary and volunteered for many years at the Wilkes Regional Medical Center.

Inez is survived by her son, COL USA Retired James H. Hayes and his wife Betty of San Antonio; one grandson, James H. Hayes Jr. and his wife Margaret of San Antonio; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Wright and her son, Jackson Ryan Wright of Red Oak, Texas. Jackson was Inez's only great grandchild and she loved him dearly.
