Ruth Pastrano Cardenas

Moving to San Antonio in the early 1940's, Ruth worked in sales and supervision throughout her life. She loved helping people and being around children and was for many years a member of Mama Patrol School Crossing Guard at Fenwick Elementary School.

She was a long time member of St. Mary Magdalen Parish and their Guadalupana Chapter. She was a staff member of Project SER before retiring and becoming a victim to Alzheimer's disease.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husbands, Mike M. Garza and Gilbert Cardenas, Sr. and an infant sister, Patricia.

She is survived by her three sons: Margarito P. Garza and wife, Mary Lou, Ambassador Oliver P. Garza and wife, Yolanda and Rudy P. Garza; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Other survivors include brothers, Andres Pastrano and wife, Cecelia, Gregory Pastrano and wife, Sophie, John Pastrano and wife, Theresa, Manuel Pastrano and wife, Socorro, Jerry Pastrano and Joe Pastrano and wife, Becky; sisters, Eufemia Rodriguez, Dolores, P. Tijerina and husband, Manuel, Maria Puente and husband, Gabriel and Patsy Espino and husband, Tony.

She will be dearly missed by family and friends who loved her outgoing and friendly spirit. We are comforted by the knowledge that she is rejoined with her loved ones in eternal life.
