Ruth was born in Bradshaw, Texas in January of 1933 to Jesse and Francis Horn. Ruth grew up with her two sisters: Virginia (Jack) Norwood of Ponder, Texas and Joyce (Lawrence) Patton of San Antonio, Texas.
As a young child, Ruth lived in Winters, Texas for a short time and then attended public school in Plainview, Texas. There, she worked at West Pharmacy before moving to Rockport, Texas in 1966. She enjoyed working at Roaten Drug Store from 1966 until she relocated to San Antonio in 1974. As a San Antonio resident, Ruth filled her time working at JC Penney and devoutly cheering at maximum volume for the San Antonio Spurs. Ruth enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends and family. Her family will always remember the life lessons she shared, especially her lessons about safety around horses.
Ruth’s legacy includes four children, eight grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. She is survived by two children, Bill (Bobbi) and Dwight (Donna) Mills. A loving wife, mother, and sis-ter, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Kleiber, daughter Melinda (Robert) Andrews, son Chris Mills, and sister Joyce.
Graveside service will be 9:30 a.m Monday August 5, 2019 at Fort Sam Houston National Ceme-tery. Flowers may be sent to Dignity Memorial Park and Funeral Home at 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas. Consider contributing to causes that had special meaning for Ruth such as programs to support breast cancer awareness and treatment, local youth and mission groups, and AIDS prevention and treatment.
