Ruth (Refugia) Amador Rodriguez, a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother, passed away with her family around her on April 27, 2025, in her lifelong home of San Antonio, Texas. She was 80 years old, and was lovingly known as “Mary” by family and friends.
Born on Independence Day, July 4, 1944, Ruth carried a quiet strength and unwavering devotion to her family throughout her life. She and her beloved husband, Manuel H. Rodriguez, shared nearly 60 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised four children, whom she cherished deeply and supported with tireless love and encouragement.
Family was always Ruth’s greatest joy and top priority. She took special pride in the accomplishments of her grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to celebrate their milestones. Education was especially important to her, and she instilled a love of learning in both her children and grandchildren, ensuring they had every opportunity to succeed. This love included encouragement in music and singing for the Lord. As a testament to this, most of her children and grandchildren are musicians.
A woman of deep faith, Ruth nurtured not only her family’s minds but also their spirits, making sure that love for God was a part of daily life. Her legacy of faith continues to live on in the values she passed down.
Ruth was a creative soul with a gifted touch. She found joy in sewing, crocheting, and crafting. Her special creations included intricate baby and wedding shower centerpieces, special Barbie clothes, prom dresses for her daughters and beautiful wedding pillows for family and friends. In quieter moments, she could be found solving crossword puzzles or tending to the roses in her garden, where her nurturing nature was reflected in every bloom.
Ruth Rodriguez leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and grace. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eulalia and Jesus M.
