Sally’s kindness, generosity, wisdom, great style, grace, beauty, zest for living, and brilliant mind are legendary. She was a true Renaissance Woman. Sally was the wise matriarch of her family. Sally was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1916. She and her beloved husband of 66 years, Dr. Elmer Cooper, were stationed in San Antonio during World War II and after the war settled in San Antonio. Sally and her husband Al were an extraordinary pair, their love was magical, and they had a beautiful life, a life well lived. All Sally’s friends and family adored and deeply respected this incredible woman, who lived to be 105.
Sally had a full academic scholarship to Western Reserve University, now Case Western Reserve University. She was the editor of the university newspaper and played the violin throughout college for the Women’s Cleveland Symphony. She then taught school as a young woman.
