Sam was in the 1st Armor Division 130th Infantry Company B, serving proudly from 1944 to 1946.
A visitation for Sam will be held Monday, November 1, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera road, San Antonio, TX 78238 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 9:00 AM, at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home 6321 Bandera road, San Antonio, TX 78238.
Sam will be laid to rest in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, TX 78209 at 10:45 AM with U.S. Army military honors.
He is survived by his wife Yolanda Gonzales; children, Rita Divers and husband Walt, Evangelina Ibarra and husband Daniel, Steven Gonzales, Nora Lisa Manrique and Daniel Gonzales; numerous grandchildren; sister, Martha Ubando.
