Samantha Beer

Samantha Sammie A. Beer, age 72, passed away at home, surrounded by family and friends on Friday, June 15, 2007. She was born in Portland, Oregon and raised in Worthington, Minnesota. She attended the University of Iowa where she received her B.A. degree and was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.

Sammie retired from Christ Lutheran School where she taught preschool children for 25 years. She was also a founding member of Texas Bach Choir and an Assistant Director of the San Antonio Boy's Choir. She was an extremely active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Altar Guild and Choir. She was an avid quilter and active member of the Log Cabin Bee.

Sammie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Paul Beer and daughter, Rebecca Jane Ziller. Survivors include: daughters ~ Sarah Ellen Beer of Dallas, TX; Julia Elizabeth Grooms and husband, Matthew W. of San Antonio, TX and Marthe Nell Anderson and husband, Jason Michael of Fort Worth, TX; four grandchildren: James Rector Ziller, William Hunt Ziller, Sadie Grace Anderson and Nellie Pearl Anderson; and two sisters: Christiana Davis and husband, Jeffrey R. and Alexis Grace Altgelt and husband, Arch Rowan all of San Antonio, TX.
