

Sam graduated from Main Avenue High School in 1930 and was a two-time All-Star softball player in the City of San Antonio softball league.
After graduation, Sam immediately entered the family business. Over a period of five decades, Sam along with his brothers and family members grew the operation, Polunsky's Seafood, into the most successful and largest seafood distributor of wholesale and retail seafood in Texas.
He enjoyed his weekly poker games and lunches with close friends as well as the investing in the stock market.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Barney Polunsky; his first wife, Mollie Sachnowitz Polunsky and his brothers, Joseph, Jack and Marvin.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Merle Freedman Polunsky; daughter, Linda Aboloff and son-in-law, Marvin Aboloff. Sam is also survived by his sister, Anita Davis.
His grandchildren are Jeffrey Aboloff and granddaughter-in-law, Shelley; Jules Aboloff, Molly Sowry and grandson-in-law, Michael Sowry.
He is also survived by great grandchildren, Alyssa, Mason, Emma and Aidan including numerous nephews, nieces and cousin.
Pallbearers are Marvin Aboloff, Jeffrey Aboloff, Jules Aboloff, Mike Sowry, Molly Sowry, and Larry Spector.
