Years before Sandra Reiffert White’s cancer diagnosis, she often spoke of her joyous hope to enter the presence of the Lord Jesus. “I look forward to going home to be with my Lord,” she said. “To God be the glory.” Sandra entered His presence on May 19 from her home in San Antonio, surrounded by loved ones. She was 84. She faced the disease with her quintessential grit, class, elegance, and unwavering faith in God. Sandra was born July 26, 1939, the only child of Ralph and Eunice (née Murphree) Reiffert in Cuero, Texas. She attended local schools and participated in local cultural events. She also studied at Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and what today is Texas State University at San Marcos. In Cuero, she made lifelong friends. Among them was Dan R. White, the man who became her loving husband on July 27, 2002. The couple resided at Holly Lake Ranch in East Texas for several years before settling in San Antonio, which had been Sandra’s home for many years. From there, the Whites inspired a vast family that joined their children and grandchildren from previous marriages; all were frequent guests to the home in San Antonio, although the couple often traveled to see their loved ones all over the U.S. Many happy memories endure from family vacations the Whites hosted, such as cruises to Alaska and Hawaii. The couple also made separate trips abroad and often visited places that fueled their Christian faith.
Sandra was an astute businesswoman and excelled at property management. She applied this acumen as an administrative assistant for 13 years at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio before retiring in 2002. Sandra’s unwavering Christian faith inspired her children to follow the Lord. She was a member of Grace Bible Chapel in San Antonio and previously attended Bible Study Fellowship in San Antonio, where she also volunteered on the administrative staff for 12 years. At both churches, she was active in many other ministries. She also found time to participate as a member of the Alamo City Republican Women’s organization from 2012 to 2019.
