Sanford A. Grossman

The flags throughout the City of Olmos Park are symbolically at half-staff as a mark of solemn respect to Sanford. He was known as the "Flag Man of Olmos Park" because he started the tradition of displaying the American flag throughout Olmos Park on the appropriate days, and for his dedicated efforts to continue that tradition even as recently as the 4th of July.

He was predeceased by his parents, Jeanette (nee Evans) and Max Grossman; and his sister, Sharlene Grossman Robin.

Sanford was a proud alumnus of Texas Military Institute, and a life-long member of Temple Beth El.

He is survived by his sister, Louise Grossman Raphael; and nephews and nieces, Henry Jay (Anabeth), Lewis (Michelle), Robin, and Lee Robin, and Daniel (Debi) Raphael and Suzette Raphael Kroll; great niece, Hannah Robin, and cousins, Dr Morris Miehl and his family, and Allan Smith, as well as Sanford's many devoted neighbors and friends.

Services will be held at Porter Loring Mortuary at 1101 McCullough Ave. on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 10:00 am.

Interment in Agudas Achim Cemetery (Downtown - Palmetto Street).

Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Morris Miehl, Dr. Day P. McNeel, Jr., Gerald Dubinski, Reverend Raymond Judd, Rabbi Samuel Stahl; the members of the Olmos Park Fire, Police, and Environmental Departments; and all the Trinity University students who ever lived at "301".
