Sara was born May 15th, 1992 in San Antonio, Texas. She remained a 31 year lifelong resident of San Antonio, except for her undergraduate years as a psychology major at Birmingham–Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
Sara was a Class of 2010 alumni of Saint Mary’s Hall. While there, she learned many things, including how to play the violin and developed a passion for photography. Sara also penned some beautiful poems.
Sara attended Bush Middle School along with Hardy Oak and Timberwilde Elementary Schools.
Sara was a Christian with a beautiful and passionate soul. Her friends and family members describe her as vibrant, unique, sincere, beautiful, intelligent, generous, loving, with a positive spirit, kind soul, and pure heart. Although ten years older, Sara adored the countless hours, days, and weeks of adventures she shared with her brother. Always an animal lover, in more recent years, much thanks to Chris, she added a passion for biking, birdwatching, camping, and stargazing.
Sara loved her visits with her maternal relatives in Big Point, Mississippi, where she could experience the farm life, fishing, dirt bikes, 4-wheelers and the Gulf Coast. Her paternal grandparents in Arlington, Texas were another destination for many unforgettable holiday feasts.
The daughter of Michele (Goff) and Russ Hayden, Sara is also survived by her beloved brother Chris Wasden. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Allien (Carter) and Coach Charles Lewis Hayden. She is survived by her maternal grandparents Chester and Gisela Goff. She is cherished by her aunts and uncles: Janette Haywood (Paul), Jonia Hayden (Fletcher), Ronn Hayden (Karen), Travis Goff (Mary Susan), and Colette Killen (Quincy).
Sara is survived by her cousins: Tara Palmatier, Shaun Haywood, Kristin McCuller, Damon Haywood, Natalie McCrory, Lily Goff, Christa McFadden, Kayley Mikolajczyk, Gigi Goff, Sterling Hayden, Chesie Killen, Braelyn McCrory and Michael McCrory.
Sara also had a very close relationship with her nephew, Darren Wasden.
Lifelong best friend, Krista Horton, has shared every facet and phase of Sara’s life. They are the true definition of “partners in crime”. The impact they had on one another is immeasurable. We want to recognize her for not only her endearing friendship, but also for all her help during this extremely difficult time.
Finally, we must include her beloved cat Schmeegles, who was like a child to Sara. This loss leaves an infinite emptiness in everyone fortunate enough to be touched by her.
