Sarah Sawtelle Knaupp went to be with her Heavenly Father on December 2, 2016 with her entire family by her side. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on May 18, 1961, the fourth of six children. Sarah blessed all whom she met with her sweet disposition and infectious personality. Sarah attended Alamo Heights High School and went on to graduate from The University of Texas where she was loved by all of her Pi Beta Phi sisters. A loving and devoted mother, she worked hard to provide for her family and left no stone unturned to raise and care for her son Peter and daughter Ellen. Sarah had a mesmerizing effect on children and used this gift to God's glory by teaching in public and private schools in San Antonio and Boerne for the past 25 years. Sarah would light up any room she was in, her sense of humor contagious. The lasting remembrance to her family and friends is her unconditional love for us all. Sarah has really been a teacher to all of us, teaching us to love others as our Heavenly Father loves us all, so though we have lost a mother, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and a friend – we rejoice that she is eternally blessed and content in the enduring embrace of our Lord Jesus Christ. She is whole and her happiness is unceasing! Sarah's favorite Bible verse was 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
Sarah was preceded in death by her father Charles Sawtelle, and is survived by her mother Kathryn Young Sawtelle, son Peter Rush and his wife, Samantha, daughter Ellen Rush, husband Phillip Knaupp, brother Michael Sawtelle and wife, Lisa, brother William Sawtelle, sister Ellen Hill and husband, Bruce, brother Tim Sawtelle and wife, Julie, brother David Sawtelle and his wife, Tina, and her many nieces and nephews.
Sarah's family would like to thank her medical team including Dr. Tom Kingman, Dr. Lon Smith, and Dr. Fernando Lopez who so lovingly cared for Sarah over the past 7 months.
