'My heart is breaking upon hearing the news. Mrs. Knaupp was a teacher to my son in 1st and 2nd grade as well as a mentor to me as a single mother at that time in my life. She would share her stories of Peter and Ellen and tell me one day I would look back and laugh, just as we were laughing at her stories. She also taught me to carry a wooden spoon in my purse. My Dylan is now 15 years old and thriving in school. I owe his foundation to Mrs. Knaupp. She was hand-picked for Dylan because he was challenging. We went to Krueger in August to find her and learned she was on leave. She went above and beyond as a teacher. We were blessed that she touched our lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.

'Mrs. Knaupp will live on through the many children she taught throughout her career, and we were blessed to have known her. Mrs. Knaupp was my son, Peter's, First Grade Teacher. She made my son feel so special, as if they shared a special bondbut she made everybody feel that way! Meet the Teacher Night, when she met Peter, she told him, I was so excited to see I have a Peter in my class this year! My son's name is Peter, and you know what else? He would just love that shark- tooth necklace you're wearing, too! The necklace was a souvenir from a recent Summer Vacation. 
She taught my son the love of reading and animals. She also showed our babies tough love. I remember her sharing with us, she kept a jar of Vaseline in her desk and would tell the children, Oh you don't need go to the nurse for thatWe'll rub some Vaseline on it, or reminding my son on the playground, who is rather accident prone, If you're gonna get hurt, you don't need to be playing games like that, after a rather rough match up of Football or Basketball . 
My husband, Pete, and I loved Mrs. Knaupp. I guess in the way a parent grows to love and respect the person to whom they entrust their most valuable gift, their child a love that is earned over a school year, a love that is not just given. Thank you, Mrs. Knaupp for helping shape our son, and helping us as parents with your experience along the way.

'Heaven gained a very special angel! She was one the most uplifting, positive, nurturing, devoted person I have met. My kids and I spent almost everyday with Sarah, Peter and Ellen for four years.
