Sweet Savannah, I saw an old video of you today for the first time.  I thought I'd seen them all, but this one somehow got away from me. Until today. What a treat! You were with two middle school friends pretending to be in a commercial. It's so sweet and it was such fun seeing you be silly. It was 22 years ago today that you went to heaven. I still miss you. You'd be so proud of your brother. He's married and has three children. The oldest, Daisy, is so very much like you! It's wonderful to be around her and see that. You would love being an Aunt to them all. I wish you could see Isaac as a father. He's so strong and devoted. Such a hard worker. Like you, he loves The Lord. He misses you still too, of course. We all do.

Thinking of you today, mostly about how much time has gone by since I held you and hugged you. Life deals hands & fates that will be revealed to us one day I know.  I think about how much Noah loved you & Isaac both & the fun you all had together on Hillsdale. A great time was had very often there.  Missing you today dear Nan. Savannah- it is hard to believe that you have been gone for 12 years. We all wish you were still alive and I do too because I didn't get to know you that well and everyone says that I look and act exactly like you. I am playing volleyball for the 8th grade team and I am number 9 because I play on honor of you. We played Grandview last Thursday and I think the coach of the 8th grade team was in your class and on your team. It was really hard for me on 9-14-15 because we talked about death. I started crying in class because it was a tough day for all of us. My teacher asked why I was crying and I told her why and then new talked about something else besides death. So, I'm 28 now, damn near married to a beautiful woman who thinks I hung the moon,(if she only knew, ha!), and life is good. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you. Seriously, not 1 day.

Who knew that at 28 years old, instead of being married, maybe having a child or two, enjoying your life in so many ways that you knew how to.... you would be in Heaven, with Jesus, loving all that goes on there, instead of here. I find it hard to believe that 11 years have passed by since you left our house that rainy day, saying you would be back to take our weekly Sunday jog together. Are you aware that we had to sit Isaac down to tell him his sister would never come hone again!?!? That we had to call Erika and Dylan to tell them the next time they came to stay with us would be for your funeral!? That we all had a hard time coping with each and every minute of each and every day!?!? That we had to find a new way of life?! That I could not breathe sometimes!?!?!?!?!?! You left such a huge print on each of our hearts Savannah Joy, that will never be removed. We have learned to live in a new way, a happy and healthy way, but not the way we prefer. I find myself angry with you at times. Angry that you didnt stay jome that day and just be safe. Angry that you drove and protected Amy with your right arm. Angry that you left me!!!! But after the anger and the tears and the selfishness, I know Nan, I KNOW, that you are in the place you are meant to be in. You will be there when we come. And it will be beautiful. Dear Savannah, I'm sorry I never knew this site was here until tonight, unfortunately I never got to really know you as a young women but as a child you were always so sweet ,smart and very funny like your mama!, she was my best cousin ever! ,I know that you are in heaven watching over all of us and that God has his reasons for taking you home with him,I give your mom props for how strong she is because to this day I still cannot understand why he had to take you and I just don't know we're she gets her strength from but I wanted to let you know that you are truly missed ! Hey Chaquita! Such a long time since I've written. No excuses. You've been on my mind so much for the past couple of months; more than normal. Today I was thinking of your last visit when you and Mama and Isaac drove up in August. Thinking of the last time I had the privilege of seeing you. Very early morning you stopped here for another goodbye before you headed back to S.A. Isaac was asleep in the car and you and Mama came in. We hugged and said goodbye again. You sat down in Pappy's chair at the table and started crying. You said," why am I crying? I never cry when we leave!" That was true but later I figured it out......You knew,Savannah. Not in your mind but most certainly in your oh so wonderful sweet loving Spirit, you KNEW it was the last time we'd hug goodbye on this earth. 
 Today I was thinking of your funeral. (I don't care who in the world sees this part or which family member) At the end when everyone goes up to go past the casket (how I hate that word!)one last time I was looking down at you and thinking of your great sense of humor. I had my tear soaked (not snotty, just tears)man's hankie in my hand and still thinking of how funny you were I stuck that wet hankie down beside you where it couldn't be seen and I laughed through those tears and thought you'd probably say," GRANDma!" and then you'd laugh your deep down belly laugh. How we loved your laugh and your beautiful smile that people still talk about. Like your Mama I wish I could hug you again. I miss you. So very much.

Savannah- Next month will be 10 years. Hard to believe that much time has passed. My Mom called me today to ask about you. (Another accident happend on Bitters last night. They must have been speeding.) She told me that I need to be careful when driving in that area. That I am not invincible....Reading the thoughts others have left was hard. I have gained some wisdom and insight into never-ending pain that comes from this kind of loss through watching and loving your beautiful mother.  For some reason today you were one of my first thoughts this morning. I think about you from time to time, but today the feelings were very strong. I knew you pretty well in eighth grade. Ill never forget how kind you were to my friends and I. We weren't considered very cool in those days, but you were always so nice to us. And most importantly, never patronizing. You would often find time to sit with us and talk a while. You brought us a lot of joy and gave us a great deal of confidence. Which we really needed! I jusf feel like I should tell you that you had a real positive impact in my life and I'll never forgetyou. You are gravely missed. So it goes....

Guess it's just not gonna happen.......June 9th.....contractions........pack the bag....shower......massage feet..(who ever heard of labor in their feet?!?) .....ride to hospital...........many many hours later, at 8:11 pm......"it's a girl!" The most beautiful dark haired perfect little girl I've even seen. Learning to walk, crawl, talk, preach (ha!) sing and sing and sing......Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas........Apply make up, create, pretend hundreds of different scenarios, make everyone laugh (and fret)..........love Jesus, tell others about Jesus, teach your brother and sister and brother....... get grounded, make us proud, work, learn, sing some more, jogging partner, learn to drive, date, volleyball, softball....still pretend and play.......Wow! 17 years cannot be described in few words. I could go on and on and on. It went too fast. Happy Birthday Sunshine.

Sweet Nan, I will be 25 tomorrow, and you have been gone for 8 years now. Your dad and Beth and the kids moved out of your house a while back. It?s odd to see other people living in that house. It was odd to be in there without you. Odd to think you have a brother and sister that will never know you in this life. It feels like yesterday when we were out in West Jeff causing trouble and being ornery. I?m afraid to forget things, memories of us. I remember when you colored your hair and spilled some on the mantle and tried to cover it up with white nail polish, and of course blamed me for it when Beth found it! Or the night Joanie and I stayed over with you when Zach and Beth were gone and you called a certain boy over just to piss Joanie off. You kept running into the basement to make sure Joanie was still steaming, classic Savannah! So many memories I don?t think I could pick just one to be the favorite. Probably just a night walk through Grandview would top the list. I wouldn?t mind forgetting the day we got the news of your death. I was getting ready to go to the musical Cats for my 17th birthday. We got the news, gathered to morn, and then I went to that damn musical. I still hate that show. Things are so different now. We are in our mid-twenties! People are married, babies have been born, friendships have ended, and new people have been met. I can only imagine what you would say to some of the goings on down here, and I wish you were here to say it! Your smile was always encouraging. I wish things were different, easier. Wow, what a crazy journey it's been. I'm 19 years old now. It's so crazy for me to think that you never reached this point. You have always been older than me and when i picture you, i don't always see the 17 year old sister but i see what i imagine you'd be now.I always imagine asking you questions about the next phase of my life and you'd know what to say, but you never made it this far. I'm a sophomore in college now. I wonder what you'd say to me if you could speak to me. Probably some clever quip to antagonize me and then flash your infamous smile. I miss you so much. I went to your grave last christmas break. I waited 6 years to finally visit your grave. It just seems so pointless to me. it's not you down there, just your shell. I've had so much happen in these, now 7, years. I've had loves and friends, trials and celebrations, but sometimes they just feel hollow. Dad and i had a big falling out, we didn't talk for a long time. But we're fine now, working on things. It's crazy to me to see how we suffer, we lose you and we mourn and people express sympathy and they write these memorials and then time happens, some people forget and you become kind of an afterthought, but not for me, or mom, or dad, any of our family, we all think of you every day. there are very few things that i have thought about everyday, but for the past 7 years every day i have thought of you and missed you. I have a tattoo on my back in your memory. I like it. I think you would too. I'm kind of just typing aimlessly hoping something magnificent will pop into my head but it won't. What was i saying? oh yea, time. Time happens. And it's weird, because when you died, i was lost, i didn't know how to act, i thought i'd always have this searing pain in my heart, but it dulls. I never really forget you and you're always on my mind, but it doesn't hurt as bad. And all the while no matter what we feel the clock still ticks, and that sucks. I feel like an old man reflecting, but i'm still just 19. so much more to go. Truthfully, somedays i don't really bother trying because i think that at any moment i could be up there with you. and if i am up there with you shortly i'm kinda gonna be a little pissed because then i would've spent my entire existence in school and i'm almost done. But it's not all that bad, apparently heaven is supposed to be pretty cool i read that in a book OH goodness. i'm back at home with mom. In about a month i'll be moving up to lubbock to go to texas tech. three different colleges in 4 semesters. i'm pretty indecisive. Wow i miss you like crazy. There are so many things that i want to talk to you about. Sometimes you're the only person i can talk to, and it's impossible. I don't have anyone around me who really understands me like you, or who can keep me happy like you did. I think that's what i miss the most about you, you were my friend, not just my sister. i could have a crappy day and you and i would laugh, we were always laughing. And i don't laugh like that anymore. It's all kind of nonchalant days, some are happy, some i'm filled with regret, but i know that if you were here i could call you up and just talk and feel better. some days i'll have a bad day and look through my phone book to see who i can call and share with, and i end up just closing it because there isn't anyone. I want to talk about romance, and decisions, i want my kids to meet their aunt. I'm afraid that on those big days in my life i'll always be hampered with my longing to share those moments with you. Graduation night i was so excited but was upset i couldn't share it with you, college acceptance, awards, everything i wish i could share. And i worry that when i get married, or have kids, or do something with my career, i won't feel the full satisfaction because my kids won't ever meet you or my wife and all they'll know you as is a precious memory of mine. I could've used you a few months ago to tell me i was being a jerk before i got my heart broken. But i feel bad, because you're better off now. it's nothing but selfishness that drives our mourning. we should truly celebrate your existence in heaven. you're way better off than any of us. and for that i am grateful and it gives me peace. You'd like our little sibs by the way they're pretty stinkin cute. I miss you so much savannah. But i'm glad you're doing way better than all of us. Love,

Hello, It has been a while since I have even come to check your board! I'm sorry. Anyway, I miss you everyday. I'm never really any good and these sort of things and I want the things I type to be more than perfect and I know they can't be. But I'll give it a shot anyway. I just read Issac's last post to you and I'm amazed how fast time can go by. Man, he is getting ready to start the greatest time of his life. And he thinks A&M is where he is going!! THAT IS AWESOME!! I remember when he was in middle school. Feels like it was just yesterday. Things in my life are going nuts. I have the most beautiful little boy in the world now, Riley Ross. He is 6 months old and pretty much a bundle of joy and smiles and giggles. Luckily he got his moms looks, but was blessed with my personality. I can already tell he will grow up to be as goofy as I am. I hope one day when he gets older, he can find someone as amazing as I thought you were. It's just a shame that even the amazing have to go early too. You are missed and though you are not here you are never forgotten. Love, Adam

It has been almost 5 years since i wrote on here. I still can't believe that you are gone. It seems like only a few weeks ago you and i were busy breaking stuff in the house, because that was the only way we could have any fun was to get in trouble together. I got a tattoo for christmas in honor of you. I think you would've liked it. I'm only a few months away from graduating now. It's really crazy to think about. I really wish you were here. Every single day of my life i have that thought. I wish Savannah was here. I feel lonely all the time. I have the greatest friends and an better girlfriend her name is Kim, you would approve and yet even with everyones love it is still so obvious that your love is missing. I have a hard time when big events come around every holiday is supposed to be a time of celebration and the only thing i can do is reminisce and wish that i could see you. It's just me and mom now in our lonely two bedroom apartment. I go to school and i lead a good lifestyle. i don't drink i don't smoke. i'm getting ready to go to college and i think i'm gonna go to Texas A&M. There is so much i want to write so much i wish that i could just tell you in person. i miss you so much savannah. Its hard to walk the halls at school the same ones u walked and i just think i wonder what she did while she was here. and then i think about what u would be doing now. i would probably be an uncle or maybe not u would've only been 22. The next few months will be huge steps in my life and i guess that's why i've been thinking about you more than usual. I always find a scenario where you could help but you aren't here. Hey girl, I've been thinking about you alot! As you know, Andy and I are expecting our first baby in December...and we found out that we are having a little girl! Her name is going to be Kiley Joy. We are very excited and I only wish you were here with me during this time. I know you would be a great aunt to her and teach alot of things. Thank you for watching over her all this time...especially while I was still playing softball! and diving into 2nd base haha. I miss you alot and I know everyone else does too. Adam and his wife had their first baby boy on July 18th. His name is Riley Ross and he is the cutest little thing ever! He looks just like Adam and you can tell that he loves his daddy because he lights up everytime he hears his voice or that obnoxious laugh of his! haha You're mom did a wonderful job taking pictures at my wedding and for my bridal portraits...the dress didnt fit...and I know you wouldve gotten a kick out of it! lol. Hey Savannah, I've been thinking about you a lot lately and really miss you. I know you're with me all the time but it's just not like old times. As you know, there are a lot of very exciting adventures coming up that I wish I could be going through with you. Lindsey and I are graduating in May.... can ya believe it?!?!?! It came soooo fast and I know you'd be gettin ready for graduation as well. The wedding is soon also and I'm so excited. I know you'd be helping me so much and so excited and happy for me! and I know you still are. I know you'll be there with me and everyone else that big day and I can't wait!  The days are getting closer to Joanie's graduation & wedding. You should be here with us. It's surreal that you aren't. I know you're in Heaven but I hope that you can make it to Joanie's wedding b/c I know she needs you to be there! I was on the phone w/her tonight & you know how she is. She's worried about everything being perfect for the big day. So help her ok! She needs you to get her through these next few stressful months. I had a funny dream a couple weeks ago & you & Joanie were in it. It was completely crazy but I woke up thinking you were back again. In the dream I introduced you to someone & said, "This is my sister's friend Savannah. Jesus let her come back from the dead!" & I was so convinced that it was real. I immediately woke up, sat there for a minute,then knew that it was just a dream. Well, anyways, we're having another little boy! He's due to be here on the 4th of July! OK I have been talking too much but I wanted you to know that I was thinking about you sweetie. I miss you. Everyone misses you. God took you too early, but it's His plan not ours :

Merry Christmas Chiquita! How wonderful it must be to have an ongoing celebration, every minute of every day, worshipping and praising the Father and his Son for who they are, not even considering the day that they came into "being". I forgot to write and tell you that I visited your tree about 2 months ago and there are still gifts being left there for you. No doubt those gifts are going to be coming to that tree for many many years, even when you're an "old woman" in earth years.

I was making Pappy a pitcher of tea for dinner tonight and the tea comes in little plastic tubs just a bit larger than a communion cup of grape juice. Suddenly, as I was pouring it into the water I saw you in my dress, white heels on your little feet, glasses on and Bible in hand, "reading" from the scriptures as we played "church". You were little and it was a long time ago, but oh, the memories that you have left here. Thank you Savannah for the joy that you still bring.

Happy Birthday Savannah Joy! You're four in heaven now. I thought today about your fourth birthday in 1990. We had a party for you at Chucky Cheese in Columbus, Georgia. You had all your buddies there and you were so happy....even a little bit shy...YOU! You got a barbie microphone stand and sang to me and your dad, one of your favorite things to do. I was pregnant with your brother and you were excited about that. I cherish every memory I have of you. Sometimes the past four years feel like it's been eternity. Other times, it feels as if it's flown. I drove by the tree today where you took your last breath, and remembered that at that moment, you inhaled in heaven for the first time.......Wow! What a wonderful fresh breath of air that must have been! I miss you Sunshine. I'm doing good without you here, knowing I'll see you again makes life livable. But your presence, your joy, your creativity and laughter are missed. There is such an absence in every family thing that takes place; here and in Ohio. I pulled weeds and cleaned up a bit at your tree at Grandview High School a few weeks ago. Each time I'm there, someone has planted something new, or left an angel or cross or some small trinket of love. Someone takes good care of the tree area on Bitters Rd. here in San Antonio. Isaac keeps a cross there that he bought for you in Mexico. The tree next to your gravesite is growing and beginning to shade "your spot". Those three sites are places that are markers of you that make me smile now. You made life beautiful. Mom

Hey Savannah, 
 I've really missed you lately. My sister had a bachelorette party for me at the end of July. While we were out we heard the song "Pour some sugar on me"...I know that was one of your favorites & Joanie & I knew you were there with us & it made us cry. I know she really misses you, especially when things remind her of you. No one has even come close to replacing you in our family. We all miss you Nan. I'm sure you just met Ronnie's best friend PJ. He just passed a couple of weeks ago & I know he's probably with you & a lot of others that we know. Ronnie is having a hard time with it. I know Joanie knows how he feels & I'm sure she'll be able to help him more than any of us will. You're birthday in Heaven is coming up. I'll be in Connecticut for a wedding but I'll be thinking about you, I promise. I think about you everyday atleast once. It's hard not to think about every person that isn't with me on earth anymore. nan, it's been a long time since i have taken time to write to you. You are 21 this year. I can't believe it. 
We had all the grandkids pictures taken last week, maybe that is what prompted me to write. I remember the last summer you were with us, that was the first time we had all of you kids pictures taken professionally together. And the last summer we had with you. Every time we have them taken we think of you. Isaac said it was his last picture, but we said no. Nan would still be in there bigger than life. 
Addlyn starts kindergarten this fall, she is so much like you it is scary. Such a little ray of sunshine and sassy. She has a little sister Gabriella "Gabby" You would have loved them both. Actually you would have loved them all nine altogether

Hey Savannah, As you probably already know, alot has gone on. So Ill spare you some details... even though I know you always wanted more details! hah. Ill be a senior this year and that means one more year of softball. YIKES! I cant believe I only have one more year to play. Crazy. I got All American this past year which to me was my ultimate goal to achieve when I got into college...and I achieved it. Its an amazing feeling. Im also getting married in October, the 19th to be exact. I remember laying on your floor in your room and talking about our weddings and then you started crying. I of course laughed at you and made you laugh which then made me cry! lol. But I remember both of us asking to be each others Maids of Honors and you told me the only way you would agree is if you could wear pink. I hate pink. And there still wont be pink in my wedding... but there will be a vase of pink tulips with a candle just for you. Oh...and remember when you "tried" to play Canon in D for me...and you kept hitting the wrong keys...lol. And you told me that we had to do a duet together playing that song, me on the violin and you on the piano?! haha! It will be played too for you. My fiance is wonderful and I talk about you to him all the time. I miss you so much but everyday is brighter because I know you watch down on everyone that loves you. I havent talked to your mom in a while...and I really regret it. I saw her at one of my games about a year ago...but I dont think she stayed and watched. She looked great though. I know you are missed and everyone looks forward to seeing you again, and that includes me. I love you Dale. Keep smiling! Love you always,

She is going to get married next May, and a candle will be lit for you. Joanie has made that VERY clear. And of course we wouldn't have it any other way, you are always with her I know.

i hope you enjoyed your christmas & new year's! i know during the holiday's my family always thinks of you. we all miss you savannah. yesterday i was with my cousin lindsey & we were at this fast food place & we saw a girl that looked just like you going through the drive-thru. we couldn't believe how much she resembled you..we both were a little freaked by it, but i know you saw us & were probably laughing at us..joanie, lindsey & i were watching the real world today..joanie said a character on there reminds her of you in some ways..i like to hear my sister talk about you, b/c i know she's healing but not forgetting. i got engaged..yep aric & i are getting married, hopefully in the fall, so i hope you can make it..we would love for you to be there..i think it might be at the park of roses, but i'll get back to you on that..i just wanted to say hi, but i'll let you get back to the good stuff up there!

though i haven't been to this memorial for awhile i have had Savannah in my thoughts. nearly every other day something seems to spark a memory of Savannah. maybe i see a black eyed sue or daisy. someone may do or say something that reminds me of her. i cherish those memories and pray that Maria, Issac and the remainder of the family also have those special moments daily.

Sorry i didnt write u on the anniversary. It was just too hard for me, i couldn't bring myself to do it. I cant think of you and not see what i saw that day in teh wreck. I wish i could erase it but i cant. I want to so bad. I can barely remember some of the things that we did together, and that scares me. Only you know what I am going through, no one else. Thats kinda hard because your not here so i can talk to you. There is so much that is not resolved between us, so much. I would give anything to turn back time and bring you back, in a second. IT is still really hard for me. My mom and dad and sister keep asking me if i am ok, and i find myself hiding the fact that i still hurt really bad, like i did before. I have a husband now and he helps me some and i love him for that, but i still hurt. I dont think it will ever go away. I love you Nan. I miss u everyday of my life. I love you with all of my heart. I did not have the pleasure of meeting you, but I do know a little about you from your awesome mom. If you are anything like her, then you have the heart of a 1000 angels, a smile that won't stop, and a laugh that can cure all. Your mom is such a speacial lady and I know she loves you so much. Your mom told me to look at your site while we had dinner tonight. I had planned to look through a couple of your memories, but reading about you became addicting and I wanted to know more and more. Your mom, brother, aunts, friends, and just everyone had so many beautiful things to say about you and I just kept reading. My eyes teared up and the reading became blurry, but I just couldn't stop reading all the wonderful things people said about you. I am blessed to have your mom in my life and I feel great knowing you are watching over her. I will never get tired of hearing your mom talk about you. Her face lights up when she talks about you and I love hearing the stories of your strong personality. I have a 17 month old son and your mom is giving me tips on how to handle a child with a strong personality and fiesty attitude. I wish I would have had the opportunity to know you, but I know I will learn about you from your beautiful mom!

Wow, Nan, three years. Sometimes it feels like 87. I miss you so much. I miss what you would have been. Being able to watch your nieces and nephews grow up, all the way from birth, is such a blessing. It's so hard not to be selfish and wish you were still with us. You're supposed to be in college, visiting me on the weekends and telling me all your stories from the week before. We would laugh, I'm sure, and then you would probably play all your favorite new songs for me. I love that we shared the same taste and appreciation for music. Your mom and brother are doing well. You would be proud of Isaac; how handsome he is, witty, and fun to be around. And your mom, with the things she has accomplished; not to mention the anniversary date she has coming up next week that I KNOW you would have remembered. I think I may go visit your tree tonight in Grandview, maybe pick Isaac up first, that would be nice. So much has happened over the past three years. I want to sit you down over a glass of wine and fill you in. How silly is that? I miss your giggle...

Savannah Joy, I see so many changes take place in this world that used to be your home, and right away wonder what you would do and say if you came back to see. In some strange way, it seems wrong that changes can occur, new things be brought forth, without your knowing about it. New buildings where there used to be trees. New styles of clothing, new television shows that I KNOW you would love, new songs, Isaac's height and Erikas whole look........I want you to know and be able to see it all. I want to show you the church in Africa, the trees planted in honor of you, the love that people still have for you...All of it. 
But it is enough to know that you can , instead, show me all that you have in heaven when I get there to your world. It is still so very surreal. I think of you leaving the house the day of your wreck. You hugged me and said "let's go to the park to walk when I get back, if it's not raining.I love you mom." How ironic that it started to rain two minutes later. I would love to have that walk with you today. In my mind I will. I still want you back. Thank you for leaving me with the knowledge of knowing that you loved me and were proud to be my daughter. That has carried me many times. I miss you everyday. I love you sunshine
