

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Shannon Gunaji, a devoted husband, proud veteran, and passionate enthusiast of life, who departed from this world at the age of 52. Shannon's journey came to an end on February 13, 2024.
Shannon was born on April 20, 1971 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. After high school, Shannon's adventurous spirit led him to join the United States Army Reserves from which he retired and joined the United States Air Force, being sent overseas to Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm. His military service shaped him into a disciplined and resilient individual, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Outside his military commitments, Shannon embraced a multitude of interests that painted a vivid and multifaceted picture of his personality. He had a fascination with Lego, spending countless hours creating intricate masterpieces that reflected his creativity and meticulous attention to detail. His love for role-playing games transported him to fantastical realms where his imagination knew no bounds.
True crime captivated Shannon's analytical mind, and he delved into the mysteries of the human psyche with a fervor that mirrored his insatiable curiosity. In the kitchen, he transformed ordinary ingredients into culinary delights, leaving those lucky enough to savor his creations with a taste of his culinary prowess.
A true martial arts aficionado, Shannon dedicated himself to the disciplines of tae kwon do, kung fu, and kenpo karate, embodying the principles of respect, discipline, and self-defense. His dedication to these arts not only reflected in his physical prowess but also in the way he approached life with grace and humility.
Shannon found solace and energy in the thunderous riffs and powerful lyrics of Metallica, his favorite band. The music resonated with him on a deep level, providing a soundtrack to the highs and lows of his life.
In the tapestry of Shannon's life, one of the most vibrant threads was his loving relationship with his wife, Kelly. Their union was a testament to the strength of their bond, built on shared interests, mutual respect, and unwavering support. Kelly survives Shannon and will cherish the memories of their life together.
Shannon Gunaji leaves behind a legacy of passion, courage, and creativity. His impact on the lives of those around him will be remembered with love and gratitude. May he rest in peace, his spirit forever alive in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Shannon was preceded in death by his parents, Georgianna and Narendra Gunaji. He is survived by his wife, Kelly, and their 4 furbabies - Beauty, Sherlock, Bailey and Gilligan; siblings, Rajini Ihler (Jerry), Gregory Gunaji (Desiree), Monica Garcia, Kimberly Watkins (Leonard); several nieces and nephews; 5 stepbrothers and stepsisters and stepmother Grace Klement Gunaji.
