

Shannon Lee Rodgers entered into the loving arms of Our Lord on April 14, 2021, at the age of 63 years old. Shannon was a native San Antonian and a proud Texan. On September 5, 1957, she was born to Jeanette Wolf and Jack Holland Rodgers; oldest of two daughters.
Shannon attended Churchill High School in San Antonio and loved to play tennis and Racquetball. She continued her education at Stephen F. Austin University. Shannon was passionate about helping people afflicted by disabilities and helping others to understand those disabilities. She was a caring and compassionate person that found herself using her talents at Madison High School, serving as a teacher assistant for students that might have special needs. Prior to her time as a teacher assistant, Shannon was a part of Guest Relations at NASA in Houston during the 1980’s, where she led celebrity guests such as Lily Tomlin and Prince and The Revolution through tours of the facility. She was an avid motorcycle rider becoming a part of the HOG Hill Country Chapter, where they would ride together across the country. She enjoyed traveling and visiting national parks with her spouse, Kathleen M. Downs.
In addition to these passions, Shannon’s lifelong calling was to be a mother – a duty she held with the utmost importance, grace, and fulfillment in her strong bond with her son. She continued that caring nature into her role as a loving grandmother as well.
Shannon will be joining her father, Jack Holland Rodgers, in heaven, along with her grandparents, Pauline and James Wolf.
She will always be remembered by her spouse of 28 years, Kathleen “Kathy” Downs; son, DJ Pennington, and daughter in law Tam Pennington; granddaughter, Fiona Simmonds; mother, Jeanette Wolf Rodgers; sister Lisa Holloway and brother-in-law Michael Holloway; nephew, Brandon Holloway and numerous friends she made along her journey.
